“David? Why are you here?”

“Nori, you look great,” mumbled David into his glass.

“No, David, I look like I've been to hell and back. Why are you here?”

“Eleanor, behave yourself. David was just dropping by with a box of your things.”

“What things?”

“Stuff you left at my apartment,” said David.

“Apparently he went to your apartment, but it’s being torn down? When were you going to tell me that there was a fire?”

“Crap, Mom, I—”

“Since David was here I thought you too could talk it out whatever is going on between you two.”

“There’s nothing going on with me and David. We’ve been broken up for four months.”

“Four months? Please, you should have just gone to a shrink.”

Nori ground her teeth and clenched her fists, “I am not going to have this conversation with you now.”

“That’s fine. Let’s eat.”
