Chapter 26: Responsibilities

Orion took only a few warriors and left that very day. Only a single kiss on her forehead was his goodbye.

She’s not bitter about that. She’s not.

Until night came. She hadn’t realized how accustomed to his warmth she had. It was too cold, wrapped up in the blankets alone in the bed. She laid in bed at night, a hand to her heart, wondering if he felt the same way.

She barely got any sleep.

In the morning, Rain learned that the duties of the Alpha were taken over by the Luna in his absence. Vikas volunteered to do the paperwork for her, only needing her signature every once in and while.

The financials for building costs, electricity, and other bills had to be dealt with daily. Even the costs of food, though they did hunt most meat and grow most vegetables. Even simple costs such as the distribution of water were left to the Alpha.

Rain had it worse in her opinion.
