Chapter 29: Last Words

Rain dug her back claws into the wolf's stomach as she threw her own head into his gaping maw.

The wolf reeled back, and Rain threw her own weight towards him, throwing him off her smaller form.

Rain scrambled to her feet, panting after the near-death experience.

The two wolves stare at one another across.

Something is familiar about this wolf, something she can’t put a name to but she knows he isn’t like the other rogues.

The enemy wolf stares at her, his green eyes lit with not anger or threat to kill but something deeper. As she looks into his eyes, she noticed the gold tint to them for a brief second.

Something inside of her grows warm, almost a burn but not quite.

And then, Pop.

She shivers as something connects. Like feeling two puzzle pieces finally rejoining after lost for so long. Something is different.

‘Can you hear me?’ A voice asks.
