Chapter 7: The Wolf Pack

Seeing Hegen break off from the group caused the others to become surprised.

The mage was going to confront a group of monsters in a melee? That could only be seen as suicidal! Demon was the quickest to react, immediately going into stealth to approach the monsters and catch them unguarded.

Following Demon's disappearance, Maniac charged forward using charge, the unique skill of the warriors, while Style let loose three arrows at once from his bow.

Style's arrows met with the wolves first, causing them to howl in pain before focusing their attention on Style. Before they could charge at him, however, Maniac came crashing into the front wolf, sending it flying backward into the other wolves.

Like that, the wolves shifted their attention onto Maniac, allowing Style to prepare his bow again. Maniac hoisted his shield before him and positioned himself between the wolves and the group.

However, the wolves did not stay idle all this time. Shortly after Maniac got into position again, the first wolf charged at him, running into the shield but causing him to slide back significantly. Soon before more wolves came crashing into Maniac's shield, Hegen finally confronted the wolves, using Nine Trigram Punches to cordon off a single wolf, dealing a little over a third of its health in one attack. Following this, Demon appeared out of thin air and used backstab on the wolf focused on Hegen, achieving a critical hit in the process.

These two attacks caused the wolf's health to drop significantly, with only over 100 health remaining.

Hegen utilized Consecutive Lightning Strikes to finish off the wolf before equipping his sword. He didn't have it equipped previously due to Nine Trigram Fists being a punching-specific attack. Armed with his sword now, Hegen charged at one of the wolves bombarding Maniac's shield, quickly and efficiently slicing it all over.

If one were to pay close attention to Hegen's attacks, they would notice a small amount of light shimmering off of his sword.

'I never would've thought even sword aura could be simulated in here. I wonder if the creators of this game are cultivators too?'

While thinking of this, Hegen continued to bombard the front wolf with slashes, dealing a little under 100 damage with each attack. As such, he made short work of the first wolf before darting to the next.

Not to be outdone, Style let a rain of arrows hail towards the three remaining blind wolves, narrowly avoiding Hegen who was still approaching the one nearest to him. Each arrow only dealt about 50 damage, but due to the sheer amount of arrows bombarding the wolves, each fell under 500 health. One unlucky wolf in the back who got hit the most had its health directly shaved to 150 health.

Hegen, noticing this, quickly changed course for the weakest wolf, finishing it off in only two attacks. While attacking this wolf, he noticed that the One-eyed Wolf Leader had gotten up and looked at the group warily before it used a skill and disappeared from its position entirely.

It didn't remain gone for long, however, as it soon reappeared before Style, swiping its claws at the defenseless archer. Luckily, Style had been watching the one-eyed wolf and narrowly lept backward as the claws grazed his face, swiping out one of his eyes. His health began to plummet rapidly before a small stream of lights fell onto him, as Slumber used his skills as a priest to partially restore Style's eyesight and plummeting health.

HP: 78/300]

Style was shocked by the amount of damage he had taken from one attack but he had no time to relax as the wolf was soon on him again.

The rest of the team noticed Style's predicament and were shocked that the wolf could directly ignore the closest target, instead going after the least prepared member of the group.

Demon: "It seems this one will be a hard one. Hegen, go help out the others, I'll finish off the blind ones."

Hegen: "Got it, take care."

Demon: "Guys like this aren't enough to make me worry yet."

Hegen was surprised by Demon's arrogance before clearing his mind and charging toward the One-Eyed Wolf. Maniac was also charging toward the wolf, literally, as he had used charge as soon as it came off cooldown, crashing into the wolf and sending it flying away from style.

Maniac took this opportunity to stand in between the wolf and Style, who still had a small stream of lights surrounding him, bringing him almost to full health.

Hegen, who had just reached the group, continued past them toward the wolf and put away his sword again before using Nine Trigram Fists once more. This time, Hegen used the skill to target the wolf's only good eye, causing his damage to increase exponentially. this one attack had dealt a little over 800 damage!

Losing its remaining sight, the wolf howled frenziedly before charging directly at Hegen who had just taken out his sword again. However, the others did not stand idly by while Hegen dealt with the wolf. Style had nocked his bowstring back with several shining arrows and let them fly. As they soared through the air, the arrows actually lit on fire before impaling the side of the now No-Eyed Wolf. As the arrows flew, Maniac ran up towards the wolf and used his shield to directly smash into the side of the wolf.

The wolf tried to put up a resistance, but every time it changed its target, it got attacked by a different location. Soon, Demon had finished off the Blind Wolves and rejoined the group, causing the wolf to be attacked from yet another direction.

Very soon, the wolf whimpered softly before falling over and turning into countless particles.
