Meeting a fellow booklover

[Karuizawa POV]

"Ayanokouji can I have a bit of your time''

He was ready to leave and probably go home, so I had to grasp his arm to prevent him from fleeing. I drew him aside in the corner so we could talk privately.

His gaze immediately went to my cleavage. Uggh...my eyes are up here. I had to fight the urge to cover it with my hands. And he was one of the few boys who would maintain perfect eye contact throughout the whole conversation.

What's wrong with him today?

But instead of ogling it as I expected, he looked disappointed. Like a dad who just read his son's browser history.

Well, it doesn't matter I already stayed up all night memorizing every response to every question he might ask, in an exaggerated hyper-feminine manner. Every answer is gonna me seem like a woke charming girl in his eyes. It's gonna be a piece of cake to seduce him.

Unlike last time where that white-haired got caught me off guard.

This time I'm ready for anything.

"What's your bra size?" He asked out of nowhere.

Anything except that.....

He asked me with a straight face, with zero sign of shame on his face. Seriously Sato what did you even see in this guy?

''Why are you even asking me that. Plus why do you look so disappointed, is it not big enough?'' I said while looking down at her chest.

'Dammit, it's not small enough! Fuuka specified a flat chest' thought Ayanokouji.

''All every boy cares about is big boobs. This is why Hirata is the best.'' I crossed my arms.

''Boob is boob. Who cares if it's big or small. I believe in true boob equality" Ayanokouji said out loud.

I sighed, I can't believe I'm actually having this conversation with him.

"See, you boys never look at the Big picture. The problem with boobs is if you have big ones, you can never look thin. You get these burns on your shoulders from bra straps, and your back hurts. And unless you're using them for their intended purpose, they're always in the way."

"In the way? In the way of what? My hands, MY FACE?

''Ugh.....''

''Don't you blaspheme in here." He looked up to the sky. "She didn't mean it, bro. Promise."

Who is he even talking to? God?

The situation is so weird right now. Wait no.... the situation is perfect now. He's comfortable in the conversation and so am I, and now I can make my move.

''You never dated anyone before right?'' I asked him straight to the point.

''More or less, ya.''

''Yeah, I had a feeling it's like that. And you are single right now, correct?''

''Right again.''

I also had a feeling there is nothing going on between him and that senpai. One-sided if I have to guess.

''Perfect! Cause I'm currently in the market for a boyfriend. So what do you say?''

''Nope,''

''Nice! For our first date, I want us to go to------- WAIT WHAT?''

''Nope,'' He said again with zero hesitation.

Seriously... zero hesitation? He didn't even think about the offer. I mean I've never been in a relationship myself, but am I this undesirable?

I'm out here offering myself, and he didn't even consider it for a moment? If you ever want to lose all your self confidence, talk to Ayanokouji, I guess....

Wait maybe I've been looking at it from the wrong direction. Maybe what he wants isn't big boobs. Maybe.....

"You're one of those weirdos that like lolis? You want me to get a breast reduction or something?"

His expression morphed into one of horror. You'd have thought I told him I made an amazing stew from tiny babies and puppy tongues.

"Why on earth would you do that? That's like God giving you a beautiful gift and you kicking him in the nuts."

''Pfft........'' I had to cover my mouth to stop myself from laughing.

For a guy with an apathetic face, he surprisingly has a sense of humor.

He looked at me in the eye before-

''I just don't want to explore dating right about now. Maybe sometime later down the line'' He seemed deep in thought. ''But not now.''

He left me alone as he went on his way. I stood there wondering how I'm going to explain this to Sato. This is so annoying.

[Kiyotaka POV]

I wanted to take a look at the school library before I head home, it's one of the few places I haven't explored yet.

''E-Excuse me...''

Having grown absorbed in analyzing the library, I don't even notice the tug at my sleeve.

''Excuse me... can you hear my voice?''

Until the final "excuse me" of many finally catches my ear.

''...Hm?''

I drop my gaze in the direction of the voice, and find a short silver-haired girl looking up at me. She looked rather cute.

''Are you here to read books... by any chance? Or perhaps, a book thief?''

''No one's going to admit that they're a "thief" if you ask them point-blank.''

The silver hair nods several times, slowly closes her eyes, and begins to repeat my words.

''Oh... come to think of it, you're right. No one's going to admit that they're a "thief" if you ask them point-blank...''

''O-Ok?'' I asked.

''Well then, let me change the question... are you NOT a thief?''

''Flexible thinking isn't your strong suit, clearly.''

''I'm sorry?''

''...No, forget it. Need anything from me?''

''Uhm... well, as I said, I'm attempting to determine whether you're a suspicious character. Because if you not I was wondering if you want to read with me.''

She inquired, with an innocent smile. She's lugging a hefty book around with her now that I see her more clearly. Not to mention how deserted the library is.

''You're not very good at pickup lines, are you?''

''P-Pardon?''

Was she waiting for someone to show up so she could talk about books? Now all I can think about is how sorry I am for her. Like coming across a starving stray cat on the street.

''No, never mind. But I have to ask, why me?''

''I mean you are a first-year, are you not?''

''You can tell, just by looking at me?''

''I've been observing you since you entered the library, and you didn't seem used to the landscape. So I assumed you're a first-year like me. Was my observation incorrect?''

She's pretty sharp for her size.

''I don't think you introduced yourself.'' I changed the topic.

''Ah... pardon me. My name is Shina Hiyori. It's a pleasure to meet you.''

She seems perfect. Small breasts and everything. It's not exactly flat but I'm nitpicking at this point. And not to mention her innocence with all those direct questions. I bet she's the type of girl who's gonna go to Light Yagami and ask 'if he's Kira?' with a smile on her face.

''So Hiyori, ever fancied joining a club?''

''A club? Can't say I have?''

''That's a shame... cause I know this one club where you can find like-minded individuals. It's like heaven for fellow book lovers. We can read all the books there with our heart's content.''

''W-Wait really??'' Her eyes were sparkling like she found gold.

I kinda feel bad baiting her, but what choice do I have. Also, it's not like I'm lying. Fuuka did say the club's whole purpose is that it has no purpose. We can do whatever we want. I don't think Fuuka would mind someone using it to read books.

''Ok! If you're in that club, then I'm joining as well... ah''

Stopping dead, she stared at me with an expression that clearly indicates she has something to say.

''What's wrong? You need something?''

''Well... I don't even know your name.''

''Come to think of it, you're right.''

''I'm sorry.''

I don't get why she's apologizing. She must be very polite.

''Well, it's Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, but you can call me whatever you want.''

''In that case, would it be acceptable if I addressed you as Kiyotaka ?"

She's acting very familiar with me all of a sudden. All because I like books?

''Ok. Then I will call you the book harvestor.''

''H-Harvestor...?'' Hiyori made a sour face, probably cause the name isn't cute enough.

''My bad. Would plain 'Hiyori' be better?''

She nodded.

Judging from her smile, it seems she really disliked my little nickname for her. I thought it was rather cool.

Shiina Hiyori..

This was a random chance encounter, but I have a good feeling about her.
