"Whatever," starts Kellum, "it is your here for, I don't care." He didn't have to look up from the work he was currently busy with, to know who it was that barged into his office like he owned the place.
"I haven't said anything yet."
"You will and I won't do it."
"Oh you'll do it alright." Aueda said, sitting down in one of the chairs before the desk.
Kellum looked up from the email he was typing.
Warm hazel eyes full of distrust.
"Whatever it is, my answer is no, Aueda." His voice was stern, expression stern and features taut with tension.
The Darkling smirked. "It's always amusing how you think you can say no to me everytime I waltz in here." His lips curved in to a satisfied smile seeing the defeated look upon the young Alpha's face.
Pink lips pulling into a thin line, Kellum sat back and rubbed a hand down his face. It wasn't even near lunch yet and he was already exhausted by this conversation.
"What, Aueda, is it?" He asked in an exasperated voice.
The Darkling portrayed his usual disinterested appearance.
"Santa is missing a Elf and lucky you, it landed on your pack lands." He says, blinking.
"I told Dean to deal with it."
"Yet here I am."
"Dean called you?"
"Kisame answered the phone when your Beta called. And because I was blackmailed into coming here, your gonna suffer with me."
Frowning slightly, Kellum asked, "Kisame blackmailed you to come here?"
"Yes."
"Over an Elf?"
"Apparently his soft hearted nature knowns no bounds or limits." He said bluntly.
"Unlike you."
"Do you want to die?"
Kellum gulped and avoids his gaze. "What do you want me to do with the fact that there is a male dressed as a Christmas Elf one of my pack members found somewhere in my woods?"
"It's apparently not a human."
That made Kellum look in his direction quickly. "Not a human? Your jokin right?" He sounds surprised.
"Do I look like someone who makes jokes?"
Kellum opened his mouth to say something but snapped it shut. Shaking his head.
"Look. It's an actual Elf. And you will deal with that."
Kellum's eyes went wide. He shakes his head. "No! I can't! Aueda I'm already under a lot of pressure at the moment with the new members of my pack! I can't take on more responsibility!"
"Did I give you a say in the matter?"
"Aueda please! I can't! I barely have time for myself!"
"Not my business now is it?"
Kellum looks stricken at his words. To have more responsibility dumped on him was not how he expected his day to go.
Aueda gazed over Kellum's head. Through the half hexagon's windows viewing the east side of the pack's fields. It was beautiful view.
"The Elf is sick. Kisame is probably taking most of it's sickness away right now as we speak. Your to take care of it until it's well enough for me to ask where it came from so that I can send it back. It's your responsibility now. Top priority to be precise."
He was told strictly. Aueda's hazel and blue eyes sharp and cutting, making Kellum flinch but nod.
"I understand."
"Good. Because Elves were supposed to stay a myth when they vanished centuries ago. How and why this one is here I have no idea. One thing is for sure, it came from somewhere, and I want to know where."
He was serious, Kellum could see this. So he asked.
"Why not keep it at your place? I'm sure if others were to find out about this they'd want the Elf as well and would want to know it's secrets." He told him pointedly. Crossing his arms across his black shirt covered chest, the shirt stretched over the muscles.
"All hell would break loose." Was the Darkling's answer.
"But because I am placing the Elf under your protection, who would dare try to go up against an Alpha for a Elf?"
He was right on that note, if the Elf was placed under his protection, no one would willingly try to cross an Alpha. Yet on the other hand...
"If anyone tries to kidnap the Elf, that would make them suspicious. Meaning they know things you don't about the Elf?"
"Not quite. Those who knew most about Elves died. But I'll be doing my own research. I'll find out the answers I'm looking for until I can get more from the Elf itself."
For some reason, Kellum could tell there was more to this than what Aueda told him. But he really wasn't that interested in knowing.
The sooner the Darkling got his answers, the sooner he was out of Kellum's hair.
"Fine. I'll keep an eye on the Elf-"
Aueda laughed then. Confusing Kellum.
"You'll not just keep an eye on it, it'll live with you. And you'll make sure it's welcomed. You'll do anything to get it to tell us where it's from. Except killing it or trying to be dominating towards it.
"Elves are known to be gentle creatures, jolly, happy, joyful and all things cheerful. The dark elves is something else entirely.
"Whichever one it is, objective doesn't change. You treat it as if it is pack. Understand?"
He nodded but was now frowning. Dark Elves?
"What do you mean by Dark Elves?" He asked wearily, not quite sure if he wanted to know what that is.
A spark of amusement danced in Aueda's otherwise expressionless eyes. "Oh, you don't know?" There was mock concern in his voice.
Yet his words sent a wave of worry through him. Didn't know? Didn't know what?
"What?"
Aueda just smiled humourlessly. Getting to his feet in a slow stance.
That certain look in his eyes made Kellum feel like he should be very, very worried. And he didn't like that Aueda was toying with him because of it.
"Oh, nothing..." He didn't believe that for one second. "Happy Babysitting."
