Chapter 60: Tokyo’s Future

Sora stared at him in silence as the dark knight 'revealed' his secret. He showed no look of surprise, already being aware a few moments before the man said it.

"That's an interesting claim. Bold too." Sora spoke lightly as his face turned back to the streets of Tokyo.

"You don't seem all too surprised. Did you know?" Bruce asked with narrowed eyes.

"What did you really expect me to do? Truth or not, It makes no difference to me either way." Sora answered as his eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of an arguing couple down below.

"I just have one question." He started.

Bruce was silent for the next few moments as Sora's eyes left the streets and turned back to him.

"Where were you all these years?" Sora asked, now staring the man in the eye.

His mother was always working to make sure he was able to live comfortably. She was tired but still managed to create time to an excellent mother.

Had Bruce been in their lives maybe his mother wouldn't have been there that night. He knew he couldn't think like that but the thought couldn't help but pop up in his head.

"I didn't know about it until some time ago. By the time I found out, there was nothing I could do." Bruce answered honestly.

"So why tell me now? What do you stand to gain from this?" Sora questioned, his eyes peering intensely into the man as pressure built up around them.

"There's nothing to gain. I believe it's only fair for you to know the truth. You deserve to have the chance to make a choice. What do you want to do?" Bruce asked despite the pressure and the slight sweat that trickled down his back.

"Out with it already. What do you really want?" Sora asked, still calm but the pressure didn't reduce.

"I don't want anything. You don't owe me anything but I owe you a lot. I wasn't there for Asami and Shinji but I want to be there for you." Bruce answered, his answer not changing despite the situation.

Sora stared at the man with calm but serious eyes that closed momentarily. His eyes opened a few seconds later as he spoke.

"Get out of my city." He said softly as he turned away.

Silence reigned on the roof for some time but he could still feel the man standing behind him.

"You know where to find me." The dark knight's voice said as he heard the sound of his cape flapping and the man moving further away.

As the man's signature went further, Sora dropped the pressure he was exerting on his immediate surrounding.

'That was quite the encounter. I guess it's time to begin project Gēmā.' He thought as he stood at the edge of the roof.

He allowed himself to fall off the ledge towards the floor below, his eyes closed and a calm look on his face.

He descended freely, the wind blowing his hair back revealed the unconcerned look on his face as he neared ground level.

Just before he got low enough for people to notice his falling figure, he disappeared in a black flash.

The next morning, Sora was hard at work on leveling Magic Craftsmanship. It was currently on level 9 but the results were more than a little bit satisfying.

[Item: Amulet of Protection]

[Durability: 100%/100%]

[Shield Strength: 100%/100%]

[Type: Magical Item]

[A necklace that grants its wearer an invisible shield around them.]

An all nighter and a few potions to wake him up and he found himself immersed in his craft.

The necklace lay inconspicuously under his clothes along with his mother's necklace. Though he didn't need it to hide his power at this point, it was still a reminder of her so he kept it.

The amulet of protection looked somewhat similar to the other necklace that occupied his neck area. A slim chain with small silver magatama beads on its length and a crescent moon at the center of the necklace.

It wouldn't stop a punch from Superman but he was sure he wouldn't immediately be killed by it. It would save him from a stupid death such as being shot by a bullet or an arrow. The likelihood was low but he still wanted to avoid such.

He made a second one which Zatanna was also made to wear.

Speaking of Zatanna, the girl literally appeared beside him with a pop. Her magic had become more potent and more convenient to manipulate.

"Done already? How did it go?" He asked as his hands paused their movement.

He had given her a particularly boring and stressful task. Earlier he crafted a numerous runes mixed with a bit of seals that he wanted to be placed around the borders of Tokyo.

It took a lot of teleporting and figuring out of locations but she eventually finished it.

"Very boring. Perhaps if you told me what it is you're planning it wouldn't be so." She answered, pouting a bit as she stared at him with baby blue eyes.

He let out an amused smile as he took out a small purple cube with runes and seals all over it from his inventory.

"Why tell you when I can finally show you?" He asked rhetorically as he moved to the middle of the room, placing the cube on the floor.

He put his hands in a ram seal for a moment, his chakra pulsing strongly and visibly as the purple cube slowly began to shine a white light.

Zatanna stood to the side watching in awe as the box pulsed slowly for a few seconds before the light pulsed brightly, filling the room.

By the time she opened her eyes, she felt her eyes widen in shock at the sight in front of her. She turned to Sora who had a slightly winded look on his face but that didn't stop the grin on his face from showing.

On the floor in front of them was a large 3d replica of the city of Tokyo. It was completely accurate and error free. The most amazing part of it was the humans and cars moving on the streets of the 3d replica.

[Item: Eye of the Sky]

[Durability: 100%/100%]

[Type: Magical Item]

[A magical artifact created to intimately monitor a specific area. It possesses smaller individuals parts that must be placed around the area the user wants to observe. The user is then able to observe everything inside that area as long as he has the main hub.]

The hub mentioned is the purple cube which he placed in the center of the room. This magical item allowed him to monitor the city in real time from the comfort of his home.

The runes that were spread around the city were responsible for that. They constantly and continuously scanned the entire area it surrounded and send the feedback to the hub.

Nothing would be able to hide from him in the city of Tokyo.

"Behold the Eye of the Sky or as of prefer to call it, the Hub." Sora said with a grand gesture and a proud smile on his face as his hands were spread out wide.

"We'll be able to see whatever is going on in the city. Nothing would happen without us being able to find out. Tokyo will soon be a haven compared to the other cities of the world." He said, the confidence in his words shaking Zatanna.

"Sora, this is…" She struggled to find the words to use.

She knew he had big plans but the speed and grand manner at which he was achieving it was honestly shocking.

He was doing things that magic practitioners struggle to do even after years of trial and error and he was doing it in less than a fraction of that time.

"This…this is incredible." She spoke just above a whisper, still in shock and awe.

"And this is just the start of it. Get in contact with the sanctuary and have them send June and Tai here as well as a few rare herbs and materials." He said as she straightened her back at attention, a look of anticipation on her face.

"Project Gēmā is about to officially begin." He said with a grin that she mirrored perfectly.
