Chapter 3 The Academy

Twenty years later.

Kingdom of Brenedal. ( 2nd Largest Human Kingdom in the Parb Continent )

Throne room of Renedal Palace.

"Your Majesty! Please permit me to go with my Royal brothers and sisters to attend at the Academy this year." A little lady with deep red hair bowed towards the King in the center of the throne room.

Many scornful faces were watching her and silent sneers could be heard from time to time. The king looked at the small lady before him then discreetly watched the faces of those present in the room but didn't say a thing. He looked towards his Queen who held a neutral face.

"What's a low life like you going to do there anyway?" A female voice rang out making others laugh mokingly.

"Your Majesty, as your daughter, this is all I ask of you. I'll never ask for anything in my life from you ever again. Once I return from the Academy, I'll do as you wish Father! Please." The little lady raised her sparkling green eyes and looked up at the throne. She looked the king in the eyes.

"You dare! Royal father, you can't let her disrespect you like that! How dare you look the King in the eyes?" A girl who was slightly older than the one pleasing yelled so loud.

"So unladylike!" Someone murmured which had the other children laugh.

"ENOUGH!!!!" The king's voice boomed silencing everyone in the room. "You are all my children. All of you shall be going this year. Don't shame our kingdom!" He spoke authoritatively and stood up to leave the throne room with displeased children and an angry Queen.

The little lady who was initially bowing looked up when she heard the king's verdict. SHE COULD GO? OMO!!' She screamed internally in disbelief. Her bewitching green eyes glowed but she did her best to conceal her smile.

The Queen gave her an evil look and stood up signalling her son, the Crown Prince to follow her.

The other princesses gaver her the same dirty look and walked away. They couldn't believe the King actually permitted the low life to tag along.

"I can't believe Father actually let her come along! I'm so infuriated!!!" The fifth princess spoke with so much hate.

"What are you worried about? I think it's a good idea." The eight Princess spoke.

"What?!" The fifth princess almost yelled.

"Like, if the royals at the academy know of her identity, who would like to get close to her. Remember...we are there for the growth and prosperity of our kingdoms."

"Yeah right! Those lustful creatures could perhaps find use for her body!" The third princess spoke with so much bitterness that the rest laughed out loud.

The little lady was following behind at a distance but she could hear their hateful words. She smiled bitterly. She also wanted to hang out with her sisters and brothers. Talk and laugh about the small talk they made. She yearned to be recognised but unfortunately, that was the thing she was never going to get in this life time. It was so heart breaking. Holding back the pain, she took another route once out of the official quarters in the Palace.

While her sisters and brothers had chambers designated for them, she was thrown away into the maids chambers... after all that's where her mother was from.

Once she was almost at those chambers, she put away her sorrows and a bright smile graced her face. "Belinda!!!!! Risella!!!!" She chripped loudly and was answered by laughs ringing out in the chambers. The maids made their way out.

"What's gotten her Highness so happy?" An old lady asked.

"Granny, you won't believe it!" she cheerfully exclaimed amking the woman raise her brows in question. The little princess had left the chambers today because the king had called for all his children. It just so happened that this year was the year after ten years where royals from all creatures, magical and those that weren't, were supposed to meet and mingle for a year. This had helped strengthen the bond amongest all creatures and put the peace treaty at the minds of the future leaders.

This had been going on for generations now.

"Father permitted me to go to the Royal gathering!" she exclaimed happily pulling the old woman and spun around with her while holding hands. The other maids that watched the exchange were also so happy.

A few of the other princesses maids looked on with disdain but this didn't stop the ceremonious atmosphere.

"This surely calls for a feast! Your Highness!" The old lady spoke as soon as she managed to plug herself off the excited young blood.

"Omo, since I'm going to be gone for a year, that means I have to prepare. I'VE NOT YEY PREPARED A THING! HEAVENS!! BELINDA, RISELLA!!!" She yelled in a loud fearful voice while her face paled. She hadn't thought this through quite well.

"I'm going to meet other royals...but I don't have nice dresses to carry along? Am I going to be wearing the same dresses for a year? This is crazy! Should I borrow from Lady Tailor in town? But they'll be worn out by the time I return! This is going to be bad! Won't I be showing a bad image of the kingdom? But I really want to go! What should I do?" She bit hard in her lip lost in her thoughts that it started to bleed.

The maids wer watching the Princess lost in thoughts and full of worry. This little lady wasn't like the other princesses whose mothers were concubines from royal families or the prestigious ones. She didn't have the previllege to beautiful dresses and ornaments. In her life, she had only three decent dresses that were left behind by her mother and she had never worn them. Actually the clothes she had wore since childhood had been sewed for her by the head maid and her two personal maids. All through her eighteen years of life, she never got anything from her father the king. It was a cruel reality for her.

She rushed into her room and shut it. She didn't want the maids to feel pity for her. She really wanted to go but was afraid of shaming her father and their Kingdom. Should she forego this and just wait to be married off to some man? But her dream had always been able to see what was beyond the walls of Brenedal and this..was her only chance!

Should she not mingle and try to be as invincible as possible while she enjoyed her little adventure before her fate is sealed? Yes! She should do that! Why must she worry of things she doesn't and will never have control over?!

With that, the little princess fell asleep with a peace of mind and a solution to her troubles.

Go Incognito!!

Days drifted by so fast and in a week's time, they had finished their preparations and we're ready to set off.

Children of the Royal families were entitled to attend. This happened up until they ascended the throne s and took over. Then this opportunity will move to their children and the cycle went on and on.

The little princess who didn't get to attend since she was still so small and had no importance to attend was left behind but the stories that were told by her sisters ignited an adventurous spirit in her that she longed for years to drift by so fast so that she too would get to attend. And so, it happened!

This Academy also opened doors for possible marriage alliances and a chance for the magical creatures to find Their mates among other kinds.

The little princess was in tears as she looked at the dresses that had been put up for her by the maids. They had worked hand in hand and secretly made and bought their princess dresses. Though they weren't as beautiful and as luxurious as those her sisters wore, they were up to standards worthy.

"If you keep crying you'll meet prince charming with red eyes. He'll definitely run away!" The old lady who was also the head maid spoke with tears in her eyes.

"I know I look beautiful even when I cry!" The little one defended herself while sniffing and rubbing her tears away. Which was true, she was so beautiful and probably the reason her sisters hated her hence ganging up to bully her.

"Show off!" Belinda scoffed which had the group burst out laughing. She was only going to go with two maids because the funds that had been distributed to her didn't permit her to bring along other maids. Though she heard that accomodation and meals were provided, she wanted to save up and bring gifts for all the maids once she returned. She had gone and asked each one of them what they wanted her to bring them when she returned.

It was so heart warming that many cried but still told her. Many wanted the magical Pixy dust from the fairies. It had been praised for its healing and beautifying abilities. A gram of that was precious! Hence many had been saving to send their kind Princess to bring them some dust once she returned to which she volunteered to use her funds to bring back as much as possible for all of them to share.

Once her entourage of three was ready, she went out to the palace court yard where the other royal children were waiting for the king with their mothers. They had been given loads of baggage and guards along with maids. They were obviously happy but when they saw her, the place grew quiet and they all looked at her. She raised her head proudly and walked to her place and also awaited the king. Before they could start taunting her, the king walked over and silence reigned.

Scanning amidst his family, he smiled proudly. "This is my message to you my children as it was ten years back and for generations before you. Don't make enemies of any of the other kinds but also don't bow down to them. You are my son's and daughters and I expect you to present yourself as I have taught you. Look out for each other and bring prosperity to our lands!"

"Yes Your Majesty!" The children totaling up to fifteen replied.

"You may take your leave!" He sent them off. Murmures broke out as the princesses and princes bid their mother's farewell.

The little princess stood there in deep thought. She had no carriage! If she took off some money to borrow one, she'd not be able to fend off and fulfill her promise! Should they walk?

Like the rest of the maids and soldiers? That should do! But they will get tired. She can't be so cheap and mistreat her most loved people like that!

"Belinda, Risella!" She called them and they broke out form their daze and turned to their princess. "Yes, Your Highness!" They all bowed respectfully.

"I was suggesting that we borrow a carriage to help us reach the boarder. Since we are heading to the central plains. It'll be easy to commute from there. What do you say?" She asked seeking their opinions.

"We are ok, with walking Your Highness..but not you! How about we borrow a horse for you to ride on?" Risella asked hopefully.

"Mmmmm...how about we go for a cart! It's cheaper!" The girl exclaimed happily at her wonderful thinking.

"But, Your Highness...!"

"It be able to take us all. Along with the laggage at a cheaper price!" She continued to show her maids that what she was saying was a great idea.

The journey begun and her entourage was the last. Seated on a cart with their luggage, they set off.

The king looked at the cheerful Princess who was chripping happily with her three maids on a cart and looked away with pain in his eyes. 'She is paying for his sins!'
