Chapter 46: Gut Feeling

River’s POV

The splitting grin on my face as I walk out the front doors of the dorm building is in response to seeing Hallie lying in bed with nothing but a sheet covering her as she watches me with seductive eyes. She didn’t want me to leave and trust me when I say I didn’t want to either, but I had to get some fresh air.

The late evening breeze brushes against the exposed skin of my chest. I didn’t bother putting a shirt on because it is 2 a.m. and there shouldn’t be anyone around at this time of the night. Besides, I have to let the fresh scratch marks on my back breathe. Thanks, Hallie.

I inhale slowly as I walk down the steps and stand on the pathway, enjoying the way my warm skin begins to cool down and I’m finally able to get some air into my lungs. Whenever I’m with Hallie, I sometimes forget to breathe because I’m so consumed by her that I feel like I’m suffocating, in a good way, of course.
