A month, that's how long I have been in this village. I managed to secure a job as a lumberjack. It was not the best if you wanted to get a large amount of money, but it was enough for me to rent a house and have food on my table every day.
It was hard work, but I can get used to it with the help of my Rune on my arms.
Speaking of Rune, I got a new one, and this time, it was a magic Rune called Great Hawk Rune. This Rune lets me summon a magical bow that will not run out of arrows. Sadly, how powerful the Rune is depends on my own strength.
Lucky for me, Warrior Rune let me increase my physical power at high speed. But I can feel it will slow down when I reach a certain point, and I need something more extreme to push my body forward.
Not only a magical bow and arrow, but I also get the eyes of a hawk. I can see a mouse almost two-kilometre away if I focus. I am also able to predict my target movement because of this Rune.
My three runes complement each other. Warrior Rune let me learn how to be a warrior, Killer Rune let me see the weakness of my enemies, and lastly, Great Hawk Rune let me have a long-range option and predict my enemy movement.
Truly, Suikoden's Rune is a very powerful thing to have in this world.
"Hey, Riou!"
Riou is the name I take when I get to this planet. The reason? Suikoden 2 is my favourite Suikoden series and the last thing I played before I got to this planet. I decided to take the name Riou for myself.
The people in this village still have a weird look when they hear my name because of how unusual it is to them, but they get used to it.
"Good morning, Maro. How are you?"
Maro, the middle-aged man who buys the pelts, the man who recommends me to the inn where I stay for a few days, and lastly, he is my boss.
"I'm doing fine, lad. Anyway, We need to get going. We got a new order."
"Already?"
"Aye, the Dothraki decide to attack, and the Magister needs as much wood and stone as they can get."
"Really? Why does the Dothraki decide to attack all of a sudden? I thought that the Magister always pays their annual offering to the biggest Khal."
"Not this time of year. It looks like money gets inside the head of the Magisters, and in their wisdom, they decide to ignore the Khal and even kill the messenger."
"T-That is a bad idea. Very bad idea."
"Aye. Look around the village. What do you see?"
I already know the answer.
"The villagers move out of the village."
"That's right. They want to hide behind the wall of Qohor from the Dothraki. This is also the thing I want to tell you about. We need to get out of here. We will chop down more trees and then go to Qohor."
"Very well."
~Five days later~
Maro and I arrive in the city of Qohor, where the house of the undying is supposed to be. I really did not want to be here, but at the same time, I did not want to get killed by a horde of Mongol wannabe.
It was suicide to fight them by myself.
"Alright, Riou. This is it. You say you want to explore the world, right?"
"Aye. I want to have an adventure around the world. Do you have any suggestions on which city I should visit first?"
"Hmmm, I suggest you go to Volantis first. Volantis is the only place where you can exchange your coin. Do you have any destinations?"
"Hmmm, I think I want to see Braavos."
"I see. If you want to go to Braavos quickly, I suggest you go to Norvos first and then go to Braavos. However, your coin will not be worth anything in Norvos. We did not have a good relationship with them at the moment."
"I see. That is why you suggest going to Volantis instead."
"Aye. You can exchange your coin there and buy a good amount of supply. From there, you can catch a ship to go to Pentos and then go to Braavos from there."
"Why can't I go to Braavos from Volantis?"
Maro looked at me with a weird expression before saying.
"Braavos hates every city other than Pentos. They will not accept any ship coming from Volantis."
Ah, slavery. I remember that Pentos was the only place that did not have slaves other than the richer people.
"I see. Thank you for your information."
"Don't worry about it, lad. When will you begin your journey?"
"Tomorrow."
"I see. Anyway, good luck Riou. May the Gods watch your journey."
"Thank you."
~The next day~
I looked at the item I bought and nodded my head. I bought a new sword, dagger, and a bag that was filled with rations like salted beef and a few loaves of bread. I can hunt in the forest if needed. I also decided to buy a horse with the rest of my money.
I can save some money by using a carriage that takes me to Volantis, but I want to have some adventure. In my previous world, I did not have enough time to have some adventure because it cost a fortune to do it, and I also didn't have enough time to do it because of my work.
Now I can see the world and enjoy the wilderness. I guess surviving in the forest makes me enjoy the wilderness even more.
With a final glance at the city of Qohor, I get up on my horse and start my journey.
