Chapter 18: Business Proposal

"What do we need to talk about?" I asked, leaning away from Ezra. He was too close; his scent was clouding my mind, making it impossible to think. "And go over there so I can focus."

Ezra grinned at me cockily before withdrawing his arms and traipsing back to the living room. I watched him settle himself on the couch as I took another fortifying drink of wine.

"So, what is it?" I asked, wanting to get the conversation over with. The sooner I could, the sooner I could get him out of here. I felt a jolt of panic as I remembered the conversation with Bobby today. My apartment was being watched. I glanced out the window across the room. Could they see us now? Did they know he was here? "We need to hurry this along, Ezra. My boss has eyes on this place, and I really can't have everyone knowing that you're here."

He quirked an eyebrow at me. "You mean the two men who were sitting across the street? They're not a concern anymore."
