Chapter 27: Sleep Over

I awoke the next morning with my head on a chest and my legs tangled in his. Instead of pulling away, I snuggled closer. It had been a long time since I'd woken in the arms of another, and I wanted to savor the moment. Who knew how long it would be before I gave in and had another one-night stand?

At that moment, I felt content. Well-rested. More so than I had in years–maybe ever. I knew the moment would come when I would have to get up and face the realities of my life. Much sooner than I would like. But for now, I was savoring the moment, still lost in the place between awake and asleep.

Suddenly, I heard my phone ring next to me on the bedside table. I sighed. Well, that was fun while it lasted. I jumped up and grabbed my phone, glancing at the large body lying in the bed, and felt my heart drop in my stomach.
