Beasts

Haaa!

With a light grunt, Saber pulled himself out of the cliff from the canyon walls which he climbed and landed on the ground in which the battle of strength between the T-rex and him took place. Once more, Saber walked toward the forest which caused him so much pain while thinking of his plans.

'Well, the obvious thing is to grow more strong but right now I need to find some sort of food.' Saber thought, right after his speed began increasing as before long he began sprinting through the forest, hoping to find a source of nutrients. At this moment it was still night time so he decided that it was the best time to hunt.

What he realized throughout the past two weeks was the fact that his body seems to grow more hungry during the daytime, especially after doing any strenuous activity. Knowing this, Saber thought that it'll be smarter to sprint through the forest when the sun isn't up and hope to find some food that can last him a whole day.

So when he is traveling through the daytime, he would not need to worry about hunting with a hungry stomach and instead do what he truly wants to which was sightsee. One must know that as far as Saber can see, the forest seemed to be never-ending but he knew that there was something outside of the forest...maybe a whole new world would open up once he leaves.

For the next couple of hours, Saber traveled multiple kilometers but found nothing besides a few rabbits. Not one to spare even such creatures, Saber killed them and ate them during his travel, alleviating his hunger a little. Throughout this journey, and after killing quite a few rabbits, Saber realized that his body had made a slight change once again.

Similar to when his canines had grown longer, sharper, and stronger after spending a couple of days eating the dinosaur raw, along with the fact that even his taste buds and the immune system changed. What he realized was the fact that his nails had grown slightly longer, stronger, and turned incredibly sharp similar to claws but on a more humane level.

Jumping over some four-meter tall bushes which covered his view, Saber suddenly realized that he entered a worrisome environment. Why? It was because lying in front of him were seven creatures who looked like predators. If that wasn't enough, these creatures radiated with immensely powerful auras compared to the current Saber.

All seven of them opened their eyes as soon as Saber made his appearance. From their sleeping position, they began rising as their bodies which radiated power were similar in appearance to the wolves from Saber's previous world. Their black furs blended well in the night and their silver eyes glowed with cold and dangerous light under the moon.

Saber immediately began to slowly back away and re-enter the bushes which he had just jumped over but...As he walked back, he realized that his feet stepped onto something soft causing him to immediately jump out of the bushes. With his feet being bare, he instantly realized that what he stepped on will cause another life and death battle.

Grrrrr!

Though the growl which came from inside of the bushes wasn't as loud as the T-rex which he came in contact with, it gave him goosebumps as soon as he heard it which made it clear that this beast was a lot stronger than the T-rex which he had previously faced. If he still felt fear even after he became stronger than the T-rex ever was, then it was pretty obvious to him that this beast was more deadly than his last opponent.

'Isn't my luck these days a little too horrible?' Saber thought while watching with wrapped attention toward the eight beasts who were passing through the green bushes. His thoughts moved quickly as he immediately turned around and began running. It made zero sense to fight a losing battle so he circulated his energy inside of his body and began heading in a direction that was not in the direction of the cliff since he did not want to rely on his seemingly crappy luck ever again.

With a twitch of his calf muscles, Saber bolted off in a random direction while his enemies drooled when looking at him. Saber was something is never before seen in this world and these beasts couldn't help but drool at the sight of such tender-looking flesh. Seeing him run away with such speed, their silvery eyes squinted as they also ran towards him.

Even though they seemed as if they were casually chasing behind Saber, that was not the case, in fact, Saber quickly began huffing since the wolves were quite literally only a few feet away from him. Even though he was pushing himself to his limits, every few seconds the speed with which the wolves approached him increased. It was as if they were merely playing with him and enjoying his futile attempts to escape, and it was actually like that.

As beasts who have been predators in this forest for all of their life, they did not know the feeling of something not going their way. They were born predators who hunted when they saw fit and killed who they wanted to. It wasn't as if their prey could ever escape from them anyway, so what was the problem in playing with them before their inevitable death.

His speed was quickening the longer it went on, but his hunger was also coming back faster. If it was not for the fact that he had been hunting and eating quite a few rabbits, then he would have already been dead. The dizziness began to appear but he knew that he needed to continue running, he needed to go faster.

'Run...run faster Saber!!' He shouted in his mind and just as he was about to be taken over by immense dizziness, an idea appeared in his mind. An idea that might just work ad get him out of this situation...well the chances of it working would be very small but it was a plan nonetheless.

'Maybe...maybe by running on two legs is slowing me down!' Saber thought while huffing, struggling to stay conscious Saber began lowering his stance as his hands slowly became closer and closer to the ground.

Thud!!

Bam!!

Even though Saber wanted to run similar to those wolves, his body and coordination were making such an act impossible. His body lost balance as he went tumbling over the ground. The wolves behind him slowed down as they seemed to have enjoyed the fact that Saber tried to copy their way of tracking down their prey.

Saber's semi-consciousness immediately retained full consciousness from that fall, and instantly thereafter, Saber got up in one motion as he again began running on all fours. Though, he looked more like an injured dog rather than a predator such as a wolf but...

Seeing their prey instantly running off again, the wolves began feeling annoyed by the pesky little creature, but still, they enjoyed his hardship so, with their previous arrogance, they continued to follow Saber with casualness clear in their movements.

But, shortly after they began the chase, they realized something weird had happened, something troublesome had happened as they realized that, if they do not sprint at their full speed, this prey of theirs might actually escape!!
