Max felt an enormous pain on his head as he opened his eyes and saw the light coming from the window. He blinked a few times, trying to get used to the sudden brightness that came in.


His body wasn’t sore or anything, but it took a while for his mind to adjust and remind him of what happened and why he was laying on his bed in the palace. 


He looked around, wanting to ask someone what happened, but there was no one. He tried to get up, but the dizziness was too much for him to handle.


Max cursed and laid back down against the pillow and rubbed his temples, forcing his brain to be helpful. And within the next minutes, everything came back as an avalanche of images and events. 


He remembered the attack from Farkas on his wedding ceremony, he remembered him coming to Mikki and exchanging the bites with her, and then… He felt a sharp pain on his side and on his head, and everything went dark.
