Chapter 12: Everett's Origin Story

Vivian held Everett’s glaze, ignoring her stomach’s plea for more food, as she waited for Everett to enlighten her. Granted this was not how she expected to bring up this subject, but she had thought about the fact that she needed to understand Everett more if she was ever going to trust him.

“I’ve met vampires before, many of them. They are voracious, cruel, and savage. But you - you are none of those things.”

“Ah, well it seems as if you’ve been meeting all the wrong kinds of vampires.”

“No, Everett. There is something more here, I can feel it. If we are going to trust each other I need you to tell me. I have to know what I am working with, especially your limitations.”

“Well, then.” Everett politely wiped his lips. “I could ask the same of you.”

“I am willing to tell you whatever you need to know,” she lied.

“So share our origin stories so to speak?” Vivian nodded. “It is rather late-”
