Chapter 30: Betrayal

“Liam,” Vivian stepped back, raising her hands defensively. “Liam, what did Miles tell you to do?”

“I’m sorry, Vivian. But I’ve received my orders.” Liam taunted Vivian, flipping a knife in his hand as he stepped towards her. "Turns out you aren't that valuable."

Vivian quickly scanned the apartment, looking for anything she could use as a weapon, her knives packed away in her suitcase from traveling. The suitcase that was still in Liam’s hands. Vivian had to figure out another way to protect herself. Stepping back, Liam matched her step for step, his eyes growing darker, Vivian reached for anything to use as a weapon, but there was nothing.

“Liam, you don’t want to do this,” Vivian cautioned.

“I have to. As I said in the car, I have more invested in all of this.” Suddenly Vivian realized why Liam had revealed how he was recruited. It was all because she’d never get the chance to talk to anyone about it.

“At least tell me why, you owe me that.”
