Chapter 43: Dying

“Is it?” Caleb mocked, pressing his hand to his chest and looking around at the other vampires who slightly laughed, showing their sharp teeth.

Vivian noticed that these vampires were different from Caleb, who seemed more like Everett, controlled, aged, with a more human-like quality. Different from the animals that encircled them, baring their teeth, a low growl under their breath, as they hunched into a fighting position just waiting for the approval to attack.

“I know what you are doing here,” Everett threatened. “Did you really think we wouldn’t find out?”
