“Vivian, what do you mean they are coming?” Everett urged, gripping Vivian by her shoulders, but her mind was lost in the moment. It was racing with every scenario, the chances of escape, the rate of catastrophe, all of it and all at once racing through her mind making it impossible for her to talk or explain anything to Everett.
“We have to go,” she finally answered. “And quickly.”
“Vivian, who do you think is coming for us?”
“Chanh - Liam - vampires - hunters - take your pick,” Vivian announced, moving quickly as she packed her duffle bag.
“No, Vivian, please, just slow down. No one is coming.”
“Why - did you kill them all?” Vivian stopped. She hadn’t considered that and she just realized that Everett had failed to offer up that information when she asked what happened.
“No, I didn’t.”
