“Everett, I have to tell you something first,” Vivian confessed.
“What?”
“There might be another reason you feel that way towards me. Can we just sit down, please?”
Vivian could feel the tension in Everett’s body as he let her go, stepping aside to allow her into the bedroom. Closing the door softly, Vivian paced across the room trying to figure out the right words to say. The room was dark, aside from the moonlight glowing off the enormous lake that was just behind the Chateau. Standing by the ornate armchairs in front of the windows, suddenly unable to sit down, Vivian focused on the small ripples in the water caused by the wind.
“Vivian,” Everett probed, gently touching her shoulder.
“Everett, I’ve been keeping something from you. I know it’s been wrong, but I didn’t want you to think, or rather act a certain way because of it.”
“There has been so much between us, Vivian. You can tell me anything, you know that right? It won’t change the way I feel about you.”
