Chapter 89: Deeper Feelings

A familiar heat rose in Vivian’s body as she stared at Everett’s shirtless chest. Judging by the half-cocked smile spreading on his face, Everett felt it as well. She didn’t come to his door for this, nor was she sure she even wanted this after everything that’s been between them, but once again she could feel herself leaning in. Wanting him was never the question, not after that first night, but knowing if he really wanted her was still weighing on her chest. Even if he wasn’t saving Cici to be with her, he still pushed her away that next morning and she still didn’t know the reason.

“Vivian, are you okay?” Everett clearly felt the shift in her body, the anxiety and fear building at the thought of what happened after they slept together that night in Cairo.

“I don’t know what to do,” she confessed, her voice a whisper through the burning tears that were threatening to escape.

“Come here.” Everett’s arms blanketed her shoulders and pulled her close to his bare skin.
