An awkward silence fell like a thick fog around the dining table. Set for over two dozen people to dine, they all gathered at a singular end. Vivian had never seen so much silverware or known that dishes seemed to be stacked upon each other only to be taken away and replaced with other dishes that had food. If that wasn’t overwhelming enough, there were three types of glasses to drink from, Vivian picked the water glass over the glass filled halfway with red wine.
“You really should try the wine,” Lexi spoke. “We make it here.”
“There is a vineyard?”
“There is everything here,” she corrected, her tone exuding arrogance.
