“What do you mean she is gone?” Ava was shouting, her voice echoing off the walls of the hotel room as she paced the small space.
“Ava, I’m sorry, but she’s not in her room,” Vivian stated, as she had already done numerous times.
“Where is she?”
“Ava, there is no evidence that she left. All her stuff is still here.”
“So maybe she just went to the store.”
“I don’t think so, Ava. Her room is tossed. I think someone attacked her, took her.”
“Why, who would do that?”
Vivian could see the panic in Ava’s eyes, feel her despair, but there was nothing she could do to quell her anxiety. She had to be honest with Ava. When Vivian initially told Everett and Vera that Blair was missing, most likely taken, Vera didn’t want to tell Ava. Thought it would distract her too greatly, leading to Ava deciding not to go through with the sacrifice. Vera was right, but Ava deserved to know the truth.
