Chapter 32: The Visitor

Amanda stared at Levi with wide eyes, her own startled expression reflected in his face. He lifted his head, sniffing, and said, “It’s a human.”

“No one should see you here,” she hissed. Then, she flushed. “Oh, my God, you’re practically naked!”

“I’ll run to your room.”

“The window by the door isn’t shaded. They will one-hundred-percent see you.”

Levi frowned.

In the end, there was only one thing to do.

“Todd!” Amanda forced a wide smile as she pulled open the door. “Wow! I wasn’t expecting you!”

He smiled at her, almost shyly. “Hey, Amanda. I hope you don’t mind me stopping by, but the weather was finally clear, and I wanted to see if you’d like to do breakfast.” He paused. “Though I already smell coffee and cinnamon, so maybe I’m too late.”

“Sharp nose,” she said, forcing out a laugh. “Wow, yeah, um, you’re an early riser, huh?”

“Sometimes,” he said, laughing. “Depends on how loud the roosters are.”
