Chapter 35: The Liberation

Chapter 35: The Liberation

Amanda had only just fallen into a fitful sleep when a scratching noise awoke her. In terror, she sat bolt-upright in bed, eyes falling to the door. However, the handle didn’t so much as turn an inch, and when she chanced a look at the window, she found that the steady shadow of the wolf outside had yet to move.

Amanda slipped out of bed silently and padded slowly over to the door. The scratching noise came again, and slowly, she lowered herself to the floor, peering under the crack between the door and the flooring. With one eye squinted shut, she was able to make out the den of sleeping wolves. Jed was nowhere to be seen, but then, she hadn’t seen his wolf form before. He could have been one of the four out in the living room. Somehow, though, she doubted it. He’d probably taken her bed.
