Chapter 41: The Morning After
Amanda woke slowly. She could hear the bustle of a busy household just down the stairs, but it was Levi who had awakened her when he slid closer in his sleep. She looked down to where their hands were linked, even in sleep, and cuddled closer to him, pressing her back flush against his front. His arm tightened around her.
Amanda traced the various bandages wrapping his arms. She’d patched him up the best she could when they’d finally finished their shower, and then she’d made quiet love to him again before they’d finally succumbed to their mutual exhaustion. The clock on the bedside table showed it was well past noon, and she knew sooner or later, they would have to face the music.
He had a pack to run, after all.
And she… she had her life to go back to.
“Stop thinking,” Levi grumbled behind her. “You’ll wake me up.”
She snorted out a laugh. “Am I thinking too loud, then?”
“Practically yelling,” he agreed.
