The very center of him was an abyss, a chasm that everything fell into and disappeared. He was emptying from the inside out because nothing mattered anymore. His body was numb. The mayhem that erupted around him moved in slow motion as he fell to his knees. He felt Kano recede and almost disappear as well, falling into the void that used to be his heart.
"Dante!" Voices overlapped as they called his name, seeming to come to him from far away. "Say something! Someone help, I think he's in shock!"
Piercing sobs broke through his barrier, and he saw Nora's parents clinging to each other as witches and werewolves tried to comfort them.
Air felt like sandpaper against his skin. His chest was hollow and raw. Every touch was like poison because it wasn't the one he wanted.
Nothing mattered.
Nothing at all.
Nora was gone.
"This is all his fault!"
