TALLIA
Thomas and I strolled around the clearing that edged the forest and surrounded the house together. The early afternoon sun was high and made my scalp prickle as it beat down on us. But despite that, there was a nice cool breeze that swept across the clearing every now and then that made it all worth it.
He was a quiet man, but I didn't mind. I think maybe he was just happy to be out of the dungeons and free to smell the air again.
"Where are you staying?" I asked as we rounded the back side of the warrior barracks. They were situated behind the house.
"In there, actually. Thankfully, they gave me my own room," he said, pointing at the barracks.
"Do you want to leave, or are you happy here?" I asked.
Thomas sighed and shook his head. "I don't know. I think this is where I need to be for right now, but eventually I'll leave to find a pack I can join."
I nodded. "That makes sense."
"I can't thank you enough for what you did, Tallia."
