BRYANT
I tingle of pain speared my toe, and I glared down at it from my office chair.
Tallia had stubbed her toe.
What was she doing that she was moving around so recklessly?
It was strange to have a piece of her in me and be able to feel her pain. It wasn’t as if it was my own toe being stubbed, more like a faint echo of it. Just enough to alert me to my mate being injured.
Not that I thought a stubbed toe warranted much concern.
But my wolf was standing and growling at me to go check on her right that instant and make sure she was okay. I rolled my eyes.
I could feel the tether that linked us shrinking as she got closer to the office. I had a hunch she was coming to me, anyway.
A few minutes later, the door to my office swung open without ceremony.
Tallia was sweaty and her cheeks were pink from her run, but she’d never looked better to me.
I stood to approach her, but she held up her hand to stop me.
I frowned. “What’s wrong?”
