Islet has waited eighteen long years and is eager to know the face of her soul mate. In a cruel twist of fate, she learns that the Holy One has paired her with royalty. But not just any royalty, Prince Cerulean of the neighboring country, who has recently announced his engagement to Princess Marilla of Selkie. The same princess that Islet can't stand.

I don’t tell the prince how his words make me feel. Not that night after all my stuff is moved to the vacant space on the second floor of the library. Which I had to beg to be placed in.


Not even when we’ve donned disguises and sneak out to the streets of Loreilei just before afternoon the next day.


The Prince is wearing something other than silk. 


He looks just as good in his tweed jacket, which he slips off his shoulders because of the blaring heat. The movement stretches his tight shirt, showing off his muscle.


I’ve never really noticed how lean he is until now. He even fits really well into his jeans. I fan my face and blame its heat on the weather. 


The sun beats down on me despite the cool breeze thinly slivering through the streets.


Like when I first arrived, no one is paying any attention. They don’t look twice at me or the prince.


It’s the first time I’ve seen anyone with dyed hair as well.
