Chapter 25: Words of Wisdom

I follow the queen’s order and stand next to her. She looks over her shoulder.

“You should keep it.” She says.

“I couldn’t”

“It’s better than that.” She says and snickers. Her delicate hand reaches out and grasps the thick material of my cotton dress. She rubs it between her thumb and forefinger.

“You said you know your Twin Ray, yes?” she asks. Her light eyes look into me with a piercing gaze.

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“Whom?”

“Whom?” I repeat. I couldn’t come up with a name fast enough.

“Don’t answer that.” She says and stands up from her seat. “I’ve only called you here to issue some words of wisdom.”

‘What is with the royal family and jumping straight into it? No small talk allowed apparently.’

“Whatever you’re building towards in life, will never be enough for people like us.” She says. She holds a hanger with a thin dress up to my neck. The olive green would look nice against my skin.
