Chapter 25: Trial of Do Not Enter

Several grueling, sleepless, stress filled hours had passed since the duo bid their farewells to the Pulmatto tribe and left their secret base of operations. Montez’s eyes were worn out from constantly switching back and forth from the screen of his watch to the trail in front of him. Mason was on edge and consistently tried to hide the fact that he was frightened at the thought of Grim appearing from behind any of the trees and bushes they traveled past.

“How you holding up?” Mason asked an irritable Montez.

“I’m fine. The same way I was fine 5 minutes ago. The same way I was fine 10 minutes before that,” he said as he rubbed his hands up against his face to wake himself up. “Are you good, bro? Ever since we left the cave, you been acting real scary?” the brilliant agent asked his colleague.
