Chapter 19: Meeting of the Clan

It took Rhea a moment to adjust to the dim light of the room. She could see she was in a square room, the middle of which held a massive oak table lit by thick candles. Rhea heard an intense conversation taking place and crept forward to the closest massive stone pillar that separated her from whatever was ahead. She recognized Arras at the end of the table, standing stoically beside a creature that was by no doubt an ancient vampire.

“Elder Phaeron, Sire, you have had the most experience of all of us here. What true threat does Sloane pose on any of us?”

The ancient vampire stirred slightly, seemingly annoyed to be called upon, but as Rhea discovered, he was more disappointed with those he felt lacked intelligence.

“Heskel…you know Sloane was always angry and wanted to take revenge on everything that crossed his path, so use your mind!”

Arras looked worried. He glanced at the elder vampire cautiously.
