They got out in front of the building, and the twins and Lindi walked to the open door of the building. She looked furious. She was beautiful; the flickering light at the entrance highlighted her hair, made it shine golden, and softened her features, and when she pointed to the entrance with the kind of gesture only a mother could manage, she looked like a sexy little general. He relaxed when the twins preceded her. They didn't look as if they feared a harsh beating.
Again, he had that annoying sense of being excluded. If he'd accepted her claim that she was pregnant with his child all those years ago, if he didn't demand the test, he could've looked after them, could've had her in his bed.
Rafe phoned her number. "Are all of you safely inside your flat?"
"Yes."
"They're just kids. Little kids." He couldn't hold back the words.
She sighed. "I know, but they have to be punished. No Discovery or Big Bang Theory for them for the rest of the w+eek."
