They took their time, traveling disguised as humans. It was dangerous times, and Zain had to defend them from bands of roving men and soldiers, looking to line their pockets, and many other hazards.
But Melisende enjoyed every moment of it. Mostly, they used the trade routes, and sometimes, Zain insisted he wanted time alone with her and privacy to experience weeks of losing themselves in pleasure and each other. Those times he would make a tent from the same silver he had made his lair. She didn't know how it was possible but no one could see or hear them. As a noblewoman, even one not valued by her family, she had traveled in luxury previously. That had been nothing compared to traveling with Zain. Inside his tent, she could bathe and ask the machine for food and drink.
