I started walking in the direction of the staircase with the aim of exploring the house. The house looked ancient and it needed to be explored. The door slid open just as I arrived at the first step. I walked through the hallway back to the first room. It was quiet out here I liked it. The room was shaped in a circle that had four doors in different directions. The one on my right I assumed was the entrance as it was the only large door. I decided to go to the second door. I grabbed the door handle and twisted it only to find it locked. The third one was also locked giving up I turned back to the hallway to try out the door that I had passed. There were two sets of doors on my right I pushed them open only to find a Kitchen. I suddenly felt thirsty for I had not taken anything since morning. I went to the kitchen to fix myself a drink since Cane didn’t give me one. He had two cups but he didn’t even think of sharing it was all for him. He can be selfish at times even to his own best friend. Sometimes I wonder if we are even friends. With a house full of people, it was a surprise to find no one in the kitchen. It remained untouched and was half-lit. I had to admit it was a bit hard to see. The kitchen was massive I wonder if they have a chef to meet all their needs. I took one of the cups that was left on the countertop and began searching for the sink.
“How can a kitchen not have a sink!” I shouted frustrated after the failure of my mission. A deep chuckle startled me and I turned to check who it was. A tall figure was leaning against the door frame on the other side of the kitchen. The figure began moving closer to the center where the lighting was a bit bearable.
“Now this is new,” he stated, “I have never seen someone who doesn’t know their way around the kitchen.” He started laughing as he continued making his way toward me. As he got nearer his facial features were clearer. He looked younger than me. He had a chiseled face, brown eyes, and blond hair. His smile showed his gap teeth, and I could tell he was proud of it. He took the cup from my hand and pressed a button that was next to me. I stood there mesmerized by what I saw. Water started flowing from the upper part of what I thought was a stand. He washed the cup and gave it back to me.
“I take it this is your first time seeing one of these.” He stated with an amused look on his face.
“So what kind of drink do you want?” He asked me with a smirk on his face. Although he was cute that smirk on his face was really getting on my nerves. I know that I have never seen some things in my life but I don’t want someone who I have just met rubbing it on my face. I put the cup back at the counter not bothering to answer him and turn to leave.
“What! You are leaving already?” he asked in a sarcastic tone. Now I really did not like him. While moving towards the exit of the kitchen two hands grabbed my waist and pulled me back to the kitchen.
“What do you think you are doing?”
“Relax, I won’t do anything to you.”
“Well you are touching me right now,” I said as I turned around to face him. He loosened his grip on me and took a few steps back.
“Next time if you want someone’s attention you can start by calling their name.”
“That is true, but how can I get the attention of a girl who is not interested in me? Btw my name is Andrew” He made a small pout earning a smile from me.
“Well as I stated earlier names are powerful.”
“How so?” he asked with an amused expression on his face.
“You will just have to find that out on your own,” I said as I turned to the exit.
“Hey, where are you going? Did you forget your drink?” I continued walking towards the exit waving my hand as a sign of goodbye. I don’t know what he wanted from me. I rather not find out. If I do I am afraid I will regret it for the rest of my life. Cane always told me to have more conversations with people but I am too scared. I mean if someone initiates a conversation with me I will answer but with some restraint. I do not like speaking to strangers for a long period and if I do I start becoming rude. I wonder how Cane puts up with me. Speaking of which I have not seen him for a while.
"I have to go now so see you around," I said. I turned back in the direction of the exit and started walking. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain pulsing in my brain. It was too much for me to bare. A small gasp left my mouth as I clutched my coat. I gripped my coat tightly that I thought I tore it. I went down on my knees for it was too hard for me to stand. The pain only intensified making me cry out in pain.
"Hey, are you okay?" I heard a voice by my side. I assumed that it was Andrew. He tried to help me up but I pushed his hand away.
"I'm okay just need a minute," I stated. He moved back to give me space. After a while, the pain subsided and I felt normal. What was that? This was my first time experiencing that amount of pain. I stood up from the ground and fixed my dress.
"Are you sure that you are okay?" He asked.
"Yes. I don't know what is wrong with me but I will be f..."
