"Yes, Mi'lady," said the maid and led Kyle to the room. Vilian headed straight to the drawing room where they earlier were in and knocked on the door slightly.
"Come in," came the well-known voice of Astrel. Kaecilius and Astrel were leisurely sitting on the couch. Both the men were looking at her, one with a smirk and the other as if to gobble her then and there. Vilian felt uneasy whenever Kaecilius was staring at her.
"I assume Kaecilius has lost his manners over time. I believe staring is rude, Isn't that right, Ms. Frost?" came the words from Astrel, but before Vilian could say a word Kaecilius took the line.
"Pardon my manners, Ms. Frost. I was just wondering why you were barefooted." The question made her look down at her feet which were now very visible in contrast to the black woolen carpet. Her toes curled in embarrassment.
"Uhh... I think that is not something that we are to be concerned about right now. Your sister requested to inform the chauffer to bring a new set of cloth. It seems the gown has ruined more than it was," said Vilian, changing the topic of embarrassment to a serious one. Sighing, Kaecilius thanked her for letting him know and he started walking away to make a phone call. Vilian walked towards Astrel who now stood up from the couch. She was fuming and glaring at him, ready to shout at him but he cut her in.
"Hello, kitty! Miss me already?"
"Where is my shoe?" Astrel laughed looking at her.
"Your shoe? Do you think I can wear it, so I took it for myself? What silly thing is that? Your feet look alike to a baby's one compared to mine, you see," he said, coming to stand behind her and placing his foot beside her bare ones.
"Uff... You know that is not what I meant!"
"Is it not? Oh, how bad that I didn't know? I believe if you do not know where your things are then how would you expect me to know them?" remarking sarcastically and flickered her forehead earning a wince from her.
"Forgive me, but I'll have to take my leave," came Kaecilius' voice getting Vilian's attention. "The chauffeur isn't picking up his phone. It was nice meeting you, Ms. Frost," he said walking forward to where she was in an attempt to kiss her knuckles goodbye but before he could take a hold of her hand, Astrel shook his hand. There was an invisible glare war for a few seconds. Vilian was in between them like a chicken stuck on a thin line of death and life under a butcher's knife. Kaecilius was the first to look away and backend. "Hope we meet again," said the man, and left the room but not before a last glance at the beauty that caught his attention.
'What the hell?' thought Vilian, looking at Astrel, and turned her heels to leave the room.
"Worried that you could not get a goodbye kiss from him?" came his teasing remark from behind.
"Are you perhaps turning green? You seem to dislike him having an interest in me," she questioned, squinting her eyes.
"And why might I be?" the smirk on his lips broadened further.
"Why else would you block him from what he was to do?"
"Ohh! Look at you badly missing him already, or... are you perhaps expecting something more from me," he said the latter in a low voice as if he was telling her one of his darkest secrets, giving a knowing look, "Don't you think you're dreaming of something too much?" He asked and seeing her frown, he chuckled in amusement. She ignored him and started walking away.
"Not looking for your shoes anymore?"
"I think I'm good the way I am."
"I see."
Remembering something, she screamed, "Ms. Kyle must be waiting for me!" and ran away from the room, leaving Astrel staring at her until she disappeared from the hallways. 'Unbelievable!' thought Astrel and said, Falcon, to prepare the vehicle. He had to go to work. There were some incomplete papers to sign and new illustrations for the winter season's project to be completed.
Kyle was sitting on the bed, left only with her white chemise and a puddle of thoughts. Thoughts of the relationship between Astrel and his female guest clouded her mind, bugging her and forming turmoil in her head. A maid entered the room with some refreshments. Kyle wasn't a regular person, to visit Astrel's mansion, but most of the maids were familiar enough to know who she was. She used to visit the place along with her brother whenever her brother had council work or anything related to it. Kaecilius was also one of the councilmen in the underworld. The siblings had no parents. Their parents were killed by a pack of werewolves before the treaty was settled long ago during a clash between the vampires and werewolves. Since then the girl was taken under the care of her loving brother who spoilt her to no end.
Kyle's feelings towards Astrel started to grow from the very first day she happen to meet him at a party. A party that was organized by the council department on the celebration of their council department anniversary. Her brother who had no one but her, tagged her along with him to the party knowing well that she had a thing for partying and attending balls and soirees, and that was the day she met him. Just the look of him, one could say he was emitting an aura of coldness and was unreachable but was handsome with the devilish smirk that he'd carry. Even though she was already warned by her brother she could not do anything. It took her all the courage to confess the feelings she had for him, the last time she met him, but he gave her neither the signs of rejection nor the signs of accepting, which gave her the light in the tunnel of her dark feelings.
She knew it was more like an unrequited love that she was heading to, but she didn't want it to end. Just not this way.
