Chapter 36: Party in Portland

“Wow. This is so sweet.” Grayson said as we stood on the sidewalk of a new place. The lamps lining the street were covered in little white lights and a big banner hung across the top of a store saying Happy birthday Grayson.

“I guess this was Narin’s surprise for you. Happy birthday, man. And happy holidays, too.” I told him as we both hugged him.

“Thanks, guys. I’m nineteen now. How crazy is that? That means we missed both of your birthdays. But don’t worry, we can all celebrate together.” Grayson told us as we admired the view before going into the store.

The sky was a light orange as the sun was setting and we could see big and beautiful mountains in the distance. There were wreaths everywhere and all of the stores were lit up for the season. It almost felt like home.
