Chapter 68 - Are You A Prince?

Denzel snapped out of his trance, and went with the first words that came to his mouth, "Come with me!"

"What?" Echo was confused. What was the demon trying to say? Why did he want her to come with him?

"That came out wrong," Denzel explained. He paused as he thought of the best wording, and then continued, "Since you have not had breakfast yet, and since Damon is out. Why not go out for breakfast with me?"

Echo was at a loss of words. What exactly was happening? She was not too keen on going out to eat with the demon, but she thought she could gain some valuable information from him. Damon did say that he knew almost everything the Onix thought about. She nodded her head, "Okay! But what type of place are we going to?"

Denzel turned his gaze to Echo's clothes, they would not fit the restaurant they were going to. "Where something formal. A dress I would recommend!"

Echo smiled, as she looked at her clothes. She licked her lips, and even though she wanted to comment on his recommendation, she politely stated, "I am not sure if I have any dresses in my closet."

"I asked Damon to make sure to add some," Denzel replied. He was still gentle, but his voice was sharp.

Echo nodded, and without further ado walked back to her room. She glanced at Hunter as she explained, "Denzel wants me to go out for breakfast with him. And he insisted on wearing a dress. Oh and on top of all that, Damon is out with Rose." Echo kept on talking, while she dug through her closet. She turned around, and with a frustrated sigh, blurted, "I don't have any dresses!"

Hunter walked around the bed, approaching Echo and the closet, "The butler was doing something in your closet!"

Echo whipped her head to look at the closet. 'The butler was doing something in my closet? Denzel said that he asked Damon to give me some dresses... Could it be that,' she thought to herself as she continued digging through the closet. She stopped when she found a box. Was she right? Was the butler just delivering a present from Damon?

Not wanting to waste more time, Echo opened the box to see an amethyst coloured, satin dress. She lifted the dress out of the box, and saw a letter. She picked it up.

"I hope you like this. XO"

An instant wave of guilt washed over Echo. She was rude to the butler, and the only thing she had done was bring a dress to her. Echo wanted to go back and change the way she reacted to the butler, but she couldn't. All she could do was now apologise to her the next time they came across each other.

"Look there's another box!" Hunter stated, pulling a shoe box out of the closet.

Echo opened the second box, and found a pair of shiny heels. She got into the off shoulder dress that fit her perfectly, and the shoes enhanced her legs, giving them more attention. The dress was covering her up to her knees, and her calves were accentuated due to her heels. Her hair was untied, with a few loose curls.

She opened the door, stepping out. Denzel stood in front of her room waiting for her. He too had changed his clothes. He was now in a full suit, and his shirt was so tight that she could see his muscles imprinted on them.

Echo smiled, but couldn't help thinking, 'He's not as handsome as my Damon.' She walked over to him, and he stretched his hand out to her.

"Why don't you bring the tiger along with us? This place is mainly for demons, and there will be many other hounds coming in too. Along without beasts," Denzel almost whispered the last sentence. He took a quick look at Echo and thought to himself, 'She looks perfect. I hope everything just goes according to plan, and he likes it.'

Echo stared at Denzel's outstretched arm, and then at the door she came from. "Hold on a minute. I'll get Hunter too. She'll love to go out, she's been in her room the whole of yesterday." She turned around and swiftly moved to her door.

"Hunter!" she called out, and the tiger sprang to her feet.

"Can I come?" Hunter asked, almost pouncing on the door.

Echo opened the door, "Yes!' she raised her hands up in excitement, patting the tigers head afterwards. She walked back to Denzel, with the tiger walking proudly behind her.

Echo held Denzel's hands. She was not at all expecting such soft hands from a demon like him. If he was a high ranking demon it would mean that he had fought several times, and holding a sword made hands rough. Was the demon a prince? She turned to ask Denzel.

"Why are my hands so soft?" Denzel asked, once Echo opened her mouth. He smiled at her surprised face. She was really something cute, adorable and terrifying. Yes, terrifying too, because of all the stories he had heard about her.

Echo stared at Denzel with her mouth agape, "How did you know?" She gave a small chuckle afterwards.

"It's something I've been asked quite a lot of times. So many times, that I can't even remember!" he replied, as he led her down the stairs. He raised her hand a little higher, as he was a step further than her, so that he could catch her if she fell.

Echo smiled after she took the last step, "You are much different than I expected. Are you a prince?"

Denzel laughed the question off, but even that was done with some amount of grace for a demon, "Why would you even think that?"

"I don't know, something about you just screams that you are a prince."

"I just mocked you this morning, and now you think I'm a prince? I didn't know the bar to be a prince was this low," Denzel replied. He glanced at Echo, and then reached for his pocket as they left the main door of the entrance.
