Collin saw Elle after work every day for the next week. That was when he finally got the news that the Blackwell lawyer reached out to her.
"He wants to meet with me and the steps at the same time so he can verify the truth. I don't think I can do it alone," she said miserably when she called him on his lunch break. "I've never been good with confrontation."
"I'll go with you!" he blurted without thinking.
"Really? You would do that for me?"
Collin couldn't think of anything he wouldn't do for her, if he was being perfectly honest. She had very quickly taken over his life. He didn't want to say that though because it would sound bad.
"Yeah. Set a meeting for before I need to go to work. It won't be the end of the world if I'm a little late. You shouldn't have to do that alone. You have proof of your identity; they don't. Everything is going to be fine."
"Thanks, Collin. I really appreciate it," Elle said fervently.
