Everyone Was Nobody

Preston Parrish hated boarding school. Not that he liked being home much better.

His dad didn't care about him. He never had but he used to have his mom at least. She was the one who had encouraged his love of building things.

She had also given him a superhero name because she loved comic books. Bruce Banner. Wade Wilson. Peter Parker. Preston Parrish. He liked comic books too but he preferred real ones. They had been all he had after she died and took all the warmth in the house with her.

Preston had been six years old. He didn't even have time to grieve before his dad shipped him off to boarding school, not knowing what to do with a kid. He never called but at least he got back to Preston's texts eventually if he needed something and mailed it over.

Mostly, it was requests for new model airplane kits or LEGOs. His room was full of them.
