Enough To Drive You Crazy

Jacob couldn't get his conversation with Derek out of his head all the next day. Specifically about how he felt like he had to take care of her even though things were hopeless for him.

He didn't expect things to be how they were before. Too much time had passed. He just wanted her to be okay and she very obviously wasn't.

This was made all the more apparent when she broke down sobbing almost the second she walked through the front door after work. She was crying so hard she couldn't even tell him what was wrong for a distressingly long time.

Jacob really didn't have much experience comforting people aside from his younger siblings, who were much easier to cheer up. He had never needed to comfort Addison like this back when they were together because she never cried. If she was disappointed, she let it go and bounced back pretty quickly. Like when she didn't get into her first-choice college.
