I Don't Need Anything

Jacob got down on the floor next to Addison and wrapped her in his arms as he murmured reassurances that only made her cry harder. He hated feeling this helpless. Hated that there was nothing substantial he could do.

It was hard seeing her like this. She had always seemed like she could take the world by storm. But even confident people could be traumatized.

When she calmed down a little, she apologized again and he barely bit back a curse. Why did she have to keep apologizing for being upset? That wasn't something to apologize for!

Jacob was incredibly frustrated but didn't let it show. "It's fine. Really. What do you need?"

"I don't need anything," Addison sniffled unconvincingly.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"Alright. I'm going back to bed."
