An intruder

Ning Xi sat down on the sofa and Mu Jang brought her a glass of water.

"Here, it's a bit warm", Mu Jang pushed the glass into Ning Xi's hands.

"Oh...thank you!", Ning Xi felt a bit awkward as she gulped down the water, why was she feeling uncomfortable?

Su Jin passed by and scoffed without taking a single glance at her.

'The previous Ning Xi must have really hurt his feelings'

"Ignore him alright? He's just pretending to be angry but deep down I know he really cares about you. So how's school? Is everything going on well for you?", Mu Jang asked.

"Uh...yes! Well... when will dad be back? It's getting quite late", Ning Xi kept peeping through the window, she really wished she could stay over tonight but she could not bring herself to say it.

"If it's okay with you... you can stay over tonight!", Mu Jang said, looking at Ning Xi with an eye which said no declining.

"Ah... are you sure? Will dad agree?", Ning Xi clasped her hands together nervously, she wondered how her adoptive father would react upon seeing her.

At this moment footsteps were heard and coming into sight was Su Fujia, the adoptive father of Ning Xi.

In his hands was a little black bag however upon seeing Ning Xi he dropped the bag to the floor out of shock.

His eyes and mouth were both widely open as if he had seen a ghost.

"You... what are you doing here?", Su Fujia raised his finger and pointed at her, his lips trembling.

"Father...they treated me so badly!", Ning Xi teared up as she complained and hugged her father tightly. When she had read the book, Ning Xi always pretended to cry and her adoptive father's heart would melt at that moment.

Su Fujia who had made up his mind to ignore Ning Xi and pretend to be angry had his heart melted the moment she started to cry and complain.

"Oh my poor baby... you must have really gone through a lot, those bastards! How dare they mistreat you? I'm going to kill them!", Su Fujia immediately fumed with anger and took huge heavy steps towards the door.

"Dad!", Ning Xi run forward and hugged him tightly from behind.

"No! Little Xi, don't try to stop me! I'm going to make them pay for daring to mistreat such a precious jewel like you!"

"Dad! Calm down... anyways... anyways it's my fault...if only, if only I had not abandoned you guys and gone with them. I...I was stubborn and foolish at that moment. Please don't go.", Ning Xi teared up once more and hugged her father more tightly.

"I won't go anymore so don't cry, I'll not go uh?", Mu Fujia turned around and slowly wiped her tears.

Mu Jang who was standing not too far away chuckled, their family was finally going to be complete once more.

After everyone had settled all except for Su Jin who had gone out earlier and they spoke for a while Mu Jang stood up to go prepare the evening meal.

"Mom... I'll help you!", Ning Xi grabbed her mother and dragged her to the kitchen before Mu Jang could declined her request.

"Wow! This place looks so different!", Ning Xi marvelled in awe at the massive change.

This place was indeed different from the description in the storybook, thank goodness she had noticed it and said it or her mother would have been surprised if she did not have any reaction.

Mu Jang chuckled and handed her a pink apron.

Ning Xi took the apron and put it on which surprised Mu Jang slightly.

"Little Xi... you seem to have no reaction after seeing your old pink apron?", Mu Jang asked in a surprised tone.

"Ah? Oh that? I...I was just so excited about cooking with you so my mind was not drawn to it!", Ning Xi laughed dryly.

"Oh is that so? You seem to have grown up very fast within the past few years you weren't with us...our little Xi is all grown up now!"

Ning Xi heaved a sigh of relief.

'Pheww! I had almost been caught but thank goodness I quickly found an excuse!'

Ning Xi carried a bowl of blended vegetables ready to pour them onto the saucepan when she slipped and it splashed all over her dress.

"Oh no! Little Xi!", Mu Jang screamed and rushed over to her.

Mu Jang helped Ning Xi up and brought her out of the kitchen.

"Little Xi what happened?", Su Fujia also rushed over to her.

"I'll go find you a different dress...yours is all messed up!", Mu Jang said and walked away.

"Oh no! Your forehead's a bit swollen, I'll go find some ice quickly!", Su Fujia rushed off to the kitchen.

'Oh goodness! I only arrived today and I've already caused a great mess? I'm indeed of bad luck!'

"Here's some shorts and a sweater, they're for Jin and this was the smallest size I could find!", Mu Jang handed them over to Ning Xi.

"Will brother not be annoyed if he sees me in this?", Ning Xi asked worriedly.

"No way and even if he is I'll explain everything to him so just go to your room and wash up before you change!"

"My...my room?", Ning Xi was surprised, she knew she had a room but she didn't know it would still be there.

"Uh-huh, your room is still there!"

Ning Xi nodded and went over to her room however it looked different from what she expected, the room was supposed to be dirty but it was extremely clean and it looked just like it was described in the storybook.

Ning Xi washed up and changed into the huge green hoodie and black shorts.

The shorts fitted her perfectly however the hoodie looked really big on her since she had a smallish body.

"Wow my baby looks so cute", Mu Jang smiled at the sight of her.

The door was opened and Su Jin walked in, the moment he reached Ning Xi's he stopped in his tracks.

"Why are you in my clothes?", Su Jin asked as coldly as ever.

"I...", Ning Xi opened her mouth to speak however the words didn't flow.

"Jin she spilled some vegetable sauce over herself so I took your clothes for her, she'll return them tomorrow!"

"Don't return them...I don't want anything touched by you!"

Ning Xi was shocked, was this brother of hers so angry with her to such an extent?

"I'll return to my room... with my food, I want to be alone for a while!", Ning Xi stood up.

Her mother and father nodded because they understood her and did not want to stress her by asking too much questions.

Ning Xi returned to her room upstairs however before she could switch on the light a shadow moved and a big palm covered her mouth.
