Epilogue

[Epilogue: Poisoned Maiden]

[The maiden's body was carried by the demons in what looked like a hammock, held up by two wooden poles. There were four of them each holding onto the end of a wooden pole in order to lift her up. It was a little excessive considering they did not need said strength to lift up the maiden, but they did so anyway.]

Eh? Is it like some... tradition then?

[The maiden was face up, while her arms were folded on top of her chest, and her eyes were gently shut. It almost seemed like she was sleeping, but the lack of breathing said something different. Not to mention, the charred leg also made it quite clear.]

...

[The demons slowly exited the forest, and her body was basked in the rays of early dawn. After spending just a day in the forest, she had died. Despite only knowing her for at most a few hours, the demons slowly carried her, in the middle of all of them. The demons all surrounded her, almost like she was an important figure.]

What? Are they treating her like a trophy or something?

[After trekking through the plains for a while, they came across a village far off in the distance. The ground nearby was quite bare, filled mostly with hardened dirt, unlike the human village which contained bountiful amounts of grass.]

Um, I don't really care about this part, can we hurry up with the story?

[Your lack of description was why your books are subpar]

Wh-

...Y-You...

[You should be thanking me for filling in the gaps]

Tsk, as if! You're just dragging the story on with needless-

[Anyway, the demons made their way through the city, with many hopeful looks casted onto them. A tiny demon that was the same size as a child that was only a few years old ran up to the demon general.]

Demon Child: I want a sweet one, Dad! Can I have a sweet one?

[The demon general looked at its child with a bitter smile]

Demon General: Only one, ok? You're not the only person that wants to eat some. A lot of them were also... lost.

Demon Child: Aw... ok.

[The demon general reached into the large woven basket he wore on his back, rummaging around until he found a familiar small red berry. It was the same one that the maiden had died from.]

Demon General: Here you are.

[The demon general tossed the small red berry, which the demon child eagerly grabbed. It immediately tossed it in its mouth, savoring the taste.]

Demon Child: I want another one! Please just one more!

Demon General: I said you could only have one, alright?

Demon Child: Mm... aw...

Hm... demons have children?

[...]

What?

[So where are they supposed to come from, just appear out of thin air? Are they not living things as well?]

Er... I didn't say anything.

[The demon child was called by another that looked like it, before running off to play. As for the demon general and its underlings, they slowly trudged on to meet with the demon lord, or the mayor of this particular city.]

T-The Demon King?

[No, I said lord and mayor. Do you not understand the basics of governance?]

...Nevermind.

[Soon enough, they met up with the demon lord, who was standing on a platform. Unlike the demon general that had three horns, this one had four, clearly displaying its superior status. It was staring at another stone platform a few meters away, which contained two humans locked up in chains. They were both dead.]

A-Ah! This is the death game that she talked about!

[Upon noticing the demon general's approach, the demon lord turned to greet it]

Demon Lord: Why have you come, general?

[The demon general got on one knee and bowed down, while one of the demon underlings did the same]

Demon General: I apologize, my lord. We have accidentally killed a human that was roaming in the forests.

Demon Underling: I-In truth... it was all my fault.

[The demon lord sighed when he saw this]

Demon Lord: Our relationship with humans was already shaky, yet you pull off a stunt like this?

Demon General: I am willing to take punishment.

Demon Underling: I-I should take it instead.

Hm... I wonder what their punishment is?

[The demon lord took in a deep breath, and pressed his finger against the middle of its forehead with frustration]

Demon Lord: As this was your first time, I will overlook this transgression, but if you do it again, know there will be no mercy.

Demon General: Thank you for your benevolence.

Demon Underling: T-Thank you.

[The demon lord then pointed towards a far off graveyard]

Demon Lord: Bury the human in the honored graveyard. Bringing them back to their village will only bring more hate.

[The demons did as told, walking off on their own. As for the demon lord, it turned back to look at the two humans that had died not too long ago, before sighing.]

Demon Lord: Humans... can be so kind.

Eh? What is it talking about?

Demon Lord: Yet... also so cruel.

Hm... hopefully we get some explanation on what that means.

[Epilogue End]

E-Eh?

It just ended?

[Yes]

EHHH? But- I still don't really understand! Plus, nothing really even happened in the story!

[It's so that you remained interested for the next playthrough]

Tsk... alright, give us another try.

[No]

...Excuse me?

[I have prepared two other stories that you can choose to complete]

What? I don't care about those stories! I want to get control over my damn computer back!

[You need clear tickets to access the main story]

Huh? What are you even talking about?

[I provided it for free the first time, but now you need clear tickets]

...I hate you. So how can we get clear tickets?

[Completing other stories]

I... should've seen that coming.

[The two stories provided are called, "Very Happy Game", and also, "Super Scary Story". You will need powerstones in order to purchase these stories, but for your first purchase, I will make the cost only one powerstone.]

Wait, wait, wait, I don't have any powerstones!

[Look at the faintly glowing blue stone to your left]

What? I don't ha-

...Woah, what the heck is this?

[A reader gave you that stone. Upon getting your first powerstone, I gave you a complimentary free real one.]

Wow, uh... thanks. The reader got me this?

[Yes]

Ooh... can this sell for a lot?

[You might be able to trick a kid and get five dollars for it]

...Well, at least it looks cool.

[Anyways, those are the two stories presented. I will now give you a short preview of both for your choice.]

[Very Happy Game - Preview]

[A new game show has been released, by one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. It was called, Very Happy Game, where participation was completely free, and gave many opportunities for awards, especially when it came to money. Millions of people ended up applying, but only ten people would be accepted. Jacob was one of those applicants and honestly wasn't all that hopeful. However, there was a very tiny part of him that still thought that maybe he could also be part of this game show.]

[And then, he received a call, telling him that he was selected]

[Jacob immediately followed the instructions given and got himself into the venue. For a few days, he was able to live in his own place and was given far more luxury than he could have expected, despite paying nothing. Many expensive wines and foods were provided for free, making it hard for him to hold back. And eventually, the time for the actual games came.]

[He was blindfolded and brought into another room. Jacob was feeling a little nervous, as it felt like he was being kidnapped. However, once it was taken off, he immediately cast away his doubts as he realized he had put on the set. Nine other people that looked slightly confused also began looking around with curiosity, while the staff filed out.]

[As for the actual place, it was startlingly large. The fields were all filled with artificial grass, while the walls were painted with a bright blue and reached far up high. If one wasn't paying too much attention, they would feel like they were outside. In front of the ten contestants, was a table filled with various candies and cakes scattered about.]

[Then, soon after, a megaphone called out from up high, signaling the start of their first game]

[End of Preview]

Huh... I remember that story. I made everyone have like, sad backstories, and then they all became rich and happy because the gameshow gave them lots of free money. For some reason, it didn't do well, even though it should've perfectly appealed to their desires!

[...Uh, sure]

Wh-

[Super Scary Story - Preview]

[There was a well-known house, off in the outskirts of town. It was called the Super Scary Mansion!...]

...

[...]

...Can you continue already?

[I just want you to keep thinking about how you literally called a house, super scary mansion]

I-I thought it was good at the time, ok!

[It was a house well known for being haunted. This wasn't even a rumor, rather it was pretty much a fact for the people of that town. Though, outsiders tended not to believe it. In fact, despite being a mansion, a person would actually be paid to live inside the super scary house. This was because the many ghosts within would leave everyone else alone so long as there was a foolish human to torment within the chamber. Nearly all of the people in town didn't dare enter, as such it was mostly only outsiders that took the offer, albeit only for a few days each.]

Huh... I don't remember...

Actually, never mind, continue.

[A girl called Sayori had ended up taking the house, as she really needed the money. She was an outsider, one that wasn't exposed to the horrors of said house. However, she was also quite gullible, thus she immediately believed the villagers that the house was haunted. Unfortunately, due to her financial status, she was quite desperate and thus took it. How bad could a haunted house truly be?]

[With such foolish thoughts in mind, she walked into her newly owned mansion. But all of the ghosts she had expected to see weren't there. Curious to check out her new place, she went to every single one of the rooms and marveled at not only the cleanliness but also the luxury. Sayori even felt a little guilty, feeling she didn't deserve such a place.]

[In amidst all her exploring, she remembered something. The place was supposed to be haunted, but she couldn't find a single ghost in the entire place. Though confused, Sayori decided she just wanted to get some sleep, thus got into one of the bedrooms and fell asleep. Yet, when she woke up, there was a knock on the door.]

[End of Preview]

Er, I think we should pick the Very Happy Game story. I remember this story now! I put every possible scary thing I could think of, making the entire damn house crawling with ghosts!

Seriously, one is basically just a free ride, while the other has countless deathtraps in it. To get this clear ticket easy, just pick, "Very Happy Game", alright reader?
