Great as you

Liam walked down a very dark pathway that was barely lit by any torches at all as he held a torch in his hand, he had a very serious look on his face as he looked very tired, and still yet he kept on going.

Down here it was cold, dark and wet as melted snow had found its way into the cracks of the bricks, Liam stopped in front of a huge wooden door as the pathway continued, but he turned to the door and the opened it very swiftly.

"Your Majesty… you are here" came the voice of a man as he turned to look at Liam as he heard the door open, at first he was surprised because no one else was supposed to be down here but him, bit once he saw Liam, his mind was at ease.

"Yes I am" said Liam as he replied and he hung the torch on a hook that was hung on the wall.

"Have you prepared him?" asked Liam.

"Yes your Majesty, I have prepared him and he is now resting" said the man as he smiled.

"Alright, thank you" said Liam.

"You may go now" said Liam.

"As you wish your Majesty" said the man as he smiled and he bowed his head as he walked away leaving Liam alone.

Liam sighed as he looked around, this was the sepulchre of the Castle, it was underneath the Castle, this place was as old as the entire Castle itself, this was where all the past Kings and Royal family members were laid to rest.

Only a few people knew that this place existed, this was where all the past kings had gone to rest with their fathers, and he would rest here as well at the end of his reign.

Liam walked over to a little stone wooden coffin as the coffin was left open and Liam stared down.

"My Father…" said Liam as he smiled and he looked at the peaceful sleeping face of his father, he looked so peaceful, so at rest, Liam had never seen his father this rested before, in his life, he has always looked tired, but he had always smiled through the tiredness, but now he had gone to rest for good, and even though it was painful to those who loved him, it was the best for him.

"You look so peaceful" said Liam as he smiled, he felt like reaching out and touching his father, but he could not, that would be disrespect to him.

"Father, I have now become King" said Liam as he smiled as if his Father could hear him, he was here to say his final goodbyes, because his coffin would soon be sealed up, never to be opened again, as he will rest in the hall of the Kings.

"I ask for your guidance, and that you watch over me where I am" said Liam as he smiled.

"Oh Father, you have always been the best Father that I could have hoped for" sad Liam.

"You tried your best to raise me well all on your own, you were my Father, but you were also my mother as well" said Liam as he smiled sadly.

"You made sure to always have time for me, no matter what, you always assured me that you loved me… and that I was not to blame for anything at all" said Liam.

"You were always there… even in my most difficult times, you put me through, you taught me how to be a good King, and gracious King, and a loving King" said Liam.

"You always put others before yourself" said Liam.

"I can only wish and hope that I could be half as great as you were as King" said Liam as he smiled, he honestly believed in himself, but it was now that he realized that all his Father had said about him not being ready just yet dawned on him.

He was not ready yet… not ready to lead the people, not ready to have them depend on him, now he no longer had to think of himself, but for his people as well, he was no longer a Prince, but a King, and that on its own was another responsibility entirely.

"I know that you must be saying that I will be alright" said Liam as he smiled.

"But now I truly realize what you meant when you told me that I should enjoy and relax in the day that I have no trouble, no responsibility" said Liam as he smiled.

"Oh Father, I do not know what I will do without you here, by my side, like you have been for all my life" said Liam as he sighed.

"I truly miss you" said Liam as he forced a smile.

"And I never got to say goodbye to you properly" said Liam.

"I did not want to meet you in sickness" said Liam.

"I did not even get to hug you one last time, and tell you that I love you Father…I love you" said Liam as he smiled.

"All through my life, I have always had you here to guide me… but now, I am alone" said Liam.

"Please forgive me Father, for everything I have done to offend you in the past, even if you never said it, I know that I was a difficult child for you to raise on your own, and yet you did" said Liam as he smiled.

"Father, I know you have always wanted the best for me, everything you have done, was to protect me and make me strong enough to be King" said Liam as he smiled, here he was talking to his father one last time, he had always enjoyed talking to him, asking him for advice.

"As the saying goes, A King must go, before another can come" said Liam as he smiled sadly, that was the tradition of Wyverdale, no new King could ascend the Throne until one left, that was just how things were done.

"Father… I thank you… I truly do" said Liam as he smiled once more, he could not stay here any longer, it was simply just too cold.

"Thank you for being such a good Father to me, and such a good King to the people" said Liam as he smiled.

"Rest in Peace Father, King Alaric of Wyverdale the third, and the great" said Liam as he smiled.

"And please greet mother for me" said Liam as he smiled once again and he took one last glance at his Father as he would not see him again.

Liam smiled as he turned around, he took the torch from the wall and he walked away as this day had been full of many changes for him.

"So what will happen now?" asked Elihu as he looked at Zechariah, Luc, Zuph and Mero as they were all sitting around a fire as they were outside, as Knights they would not sleep for three days to mourn the loss of their great king.

"The question you should be asking is… where does your loyalty lie?" asked Mero as he looked at Elihu and the rest as they looked at him.

"With the King of Wyverdale" said Zechariah as he spoke up, that was where his loyalty lies.

"And the rest of you?" asked Mero as he turned to look at Elihu, Zuph and Luc, because things were going to change and Liam needed those who would support him and not those who would oppose him, as for he himself, Mero knew that he was loyal to Liam and to Liam alone, and wherever Liam went, he would go as well.

"We are with you" said Luc as he nodded his head.

"Are we not?" asked Luc as he turned to look at Zuph and Elihu.

"Of course we are" said Zuph.

"I have no where else to go… this Is where my loyalty lies" said Elihu as he was certain of what he was saying, there was nowhere else he would rather be than by Liam's side, they had seen him transition from a boy, to a man, from a Prince, to now a King, and they would see to it that they would accompany him trough the duration of his reign, however long that may be.

"To the new King of Wyverdale" said Mero as he brought out his sword from beside him and he lifted it up into the air.

"To the new King of Wyverdale" said the others as they did the same and their swords met Mero's sword in the air with theirs.

"Long Live the King!" said Mero as he smiled.

"Long Live the King" said Zechariah, Zuph, Luc and Elihu all at the same time in a chorus as they smiled, this was a new dawn, a new change and a new reign in Wyverdale, and they were all going to be here to support Liam all the way.
