Little things

Wura walked back into her office, or more like Liam's office as she closed the door behind her, let out an exasperated sigh as she rested her back behind the door.

She covered her face with her hands and she looked down, she could not take this at all, she did not know what to do at all, she was tired of all of this, her feelings, she hated herself for feeling this was right now.

She could not lie to herself, she knew herself well, and she was obviously feeling something for Mero, the question was, what was she exactly feeling for him?

Was it mere attraction? Was it just her looking for some relief or comfort from all her emotions that had to do with Liam? Was she looking for a replacement to fill the void of loneliness that she felt with Liam's grave absence or did she actually feel something very true and genuine for Mero?

Wura did not know at all, she did not know what to think or feel, and she felt even worse, she felt like a betrayer, like she was betraying Liam right now with these feelings, which she was, but she was sure that she was the only one feeling this was, Mero on the other hand did not seem to feel the same way at all.

Wura just hated herself right now, all these emotions were too much for her to even try to understand, she was beyond confused.

Wura sighed deeply and took a deep breath before removing her hands from her face, she was tired of this honestly, she hated that Mero affected her so much, she was just… tired.

"It is alright Wura, you just need to be more careful" said Wura to herself as she took a deep breath.

"It does not matter what you feel, it is all just not real, it is not there" said Wura to herself.

"I do not feel anything for Mero, and I am sure he feels nothing for me" said Wura as she seemed to be assuring herself.

"I love Liam, I love him, and he loves me too, this is just… this is just nothing but a distraction" said Wura as she nodded and walked to Liam's desk and took a deep breath before she sat down.

"Just take it one step at a time Wura… one step at a time…" said Wura to herself as she nodded and got back to work, shunning away any thoughts that could cause her to overthink and feel even more guilty.

Wura yawned as she got out of bed, she had had a nice day today, considering what had happened earlier, but she managed to do some work, answer some letters, she had dinner, and now it was time to go to bed.

And here came her problem… she could not go to sleep again… how nice, how come when she was placed on mandatory bedrest, she could sleep very easily, but now when her foot was healed and she was finally at peace, she could not seem to find rest??! Just who did she offend for the heavens to take away her sleep??

Wura groaned and stood up, she paced around the room, she was tired yes, but could she sleep? No. It was unfair, she did not know what to do at all, if only Nora was back, if she was, she would just go call her so she could keep her company until she fell asleep.

Oh how she missed Nora, she was such an important part of her life, that was for certain, her being gone for just one day was even too much for Wura to bear.

Wura sighed as she paced around the room and shook her head, she obviously could not sleep, and there was no point pacing around in total boredom.

So Wura decided that she would go to the library to do some light reading so she could fall asleep.

Wura did not even think twice about it, she turned around and walked to the door, opened it and walked out of the room, but not before remembering to take a candle from the candlestick.

Wura walked through the halls on her way to the library, she kept on reciting in her head that she would go to the library and the library alone, no other place, she did not want to risk getting herself into any more trouble, she had only just recovered.

Wura was busy in her thoughts that she did not even notice that she had caught the eyes of a particular someone who just happened to be passing through the halls as he turned around and followed her.

"My Queen, where are you going?" came the sound of Mero's deep voice resounding in the empty, dark halls.

Wura turned around and cursed her luck as she faked a smile.

"I should be asking you the same Mero, it is late you should not be awake at this time" said Wura as she smiled and Mero frowned, wondering if she was in a bad mood, because she sounded like she was ready to fight.

"And I should say the same for you my Queen, please tell me where you are going" said Mero calmly, she had only jus recovered and yet she was back to her bad habits of roaming the Castle at night, he did not even know what to think right now.

"Oh Mero, relax, I am only going to the library to do some light reading" said Wura as she sighed.

"At this time of the night?" asked Mero as Wura ignored that question.

"Is it because you cannot sleep again?" asked Mero.

"Well yes, and I am only going to the library Mero, and nowhere else, so you do not have to worry about me, I will be fine" said Wura as Mero did not seem to believe her words at all.

"I am sorry my Queen, but if you insist on going to the library instead of returning back to your room, I am going to have to accompany you" said Mero as he wanted to make sure she was safe, but he could see that his words caused Wura to be very upset as she was already fuming.

"Mero, you do not have to look after me like a child, I can take care of myself perfectly fine, it is unfair for you to..."said Wura as she wanted to put her point across, but when she saw the look of sincere worry on his face, she paused and sighed.

He only meant well, and she did not want to argue with him really, and she did still remember that she had only just recovered, she did not want to get herself hurt again, so she decided that the best decision would be to let Mero come along with her.

"Alright... you know what Mero, you are free to come with me, I am only going to the library after all" said Wura as she did not even put up a fight, she turned around and continued on her course to the library as Mero silently followed behind her, surprised that she did not argue further, but he did not dare ask any questions.

Wura did not even need to look back to know that Mero was following her, she just shook her head, next time it seemed that she would have to walk around the Castle past midnight, when he is sure to be asleep.

Wura was deep in her thoughts as usual, that as she walked into the library as she did not look down to notice the huge crease on the carpet as she stepped on it and almost tripped if not that Mero was quick enough to catch her.

Wura had closed her eyes on reflex as she waited for the fall but it never came, instead she was enveloped by a warm embrace.

"My Queen, you should have been more careful, you could have hurt yourself just now" said Mero in a tone of worry as Wura opened her eyes and looked at him, feeling somewhat safe in his embrace.

"Well I only tripped because you are here Mero, I am more careful on my own, believe me" said Wura.

"I doubt that my Queen, you sprained your ankle last time, remember" said Mero as Wura scoffed.

"I only tripped over that time because I was hurrying to hide away before you saw me at the training grounds" said Wura.

"If anything, the reason I keep on hurting myself is because of you and your presence Mero" said Wura as she pointed an accusing finger at him.

"And you really think that my Queen?" asked Mero in disbelief as Wura nodded and he let out a little chuckle, her using him as an excuse for her clumsiness was unbelievable.

"Whatever you say my Queen, whatever you say" said Mero as he shook his head and helped her stand steady.
