Terrible memories

Wura could see that the woman looked as if her words had hit a very sensitive spot in her heart, her face melted as she looked at Wura with a weird expression on her face, but it did not make Wura feel uncomfortable, instead it made her curious; she wondered what exactly the woman wanted, because all she wanted to do was help in any way she could.

While Wura was still thinking as what the woman could possibly want, she was taken back when she stared to hear the sound of sniffing as it seemed like the woman was crying.

As Wura looked at her, she could see that she truly was cry, wet tears damped her face as she cried softly and Wura looked around as she was shocked, she did not know what to do.

Was the woman crying because of her? Was it something she said? All these thoughts were going through her mind as she was faced with a woman she barely knew who started crying out of the blue.

"Oh my, please forgive me my Queen" said the woman as she looked up, noticing the worried look on Wura's face as she realized that she was probably worrying the poor Queen.

"Oh no, no, it is alright, are you okay?" asked Wura with concern as the woman nodded and sniffed as she wiped her tears away with the back of her hand.

"Are you sure?" asked Wura again in worry as the woman nodded.

"Yes, yes, I am fine my Queen, I apologize for startling you" said the woman as she sniffed.

"It is alright, you do not need to apologize to me" said Wura.

"it is just that, I am so glad to see you... the rumours of how nice you truly are, are so true, so very true" said the woman as her bright brown eyes looked into Wura's eyes.

"The rumours?" asked Wura in confusion as the woman nodded, which made her even more confused, which rumours was she talking about.

"Yes the rumours that you are such a king, good hearted woman, and I am glad that I am able to truly see for myself; it is such an honour to meet you in person my Queen" said the woman as she smiled and all Wura could do was show her a soft smile.

"And you are even more beautiful in person" said the woman as Wura smiled at her softly.

"My Queen, I just want to thank you for everything you have done for us" said the woman as she smiled, she realized that she had gotten side tracked from the main reason she approached Wura and that was to thank her.

"Everything you have done to help us since this tragedy struck, thank you" said the woman as she smiled and Wura smiled, feeling relieved that she was not crying again.

"Oh you do not need to thank me, not at all, it is my duty to help the people who support us all so tirelessly and you put your trust in us confidently, the least that I can do, that we can do, is to help those who help us" said Wura as she smiled.

"Oh my Queen, you are so humble" said the woman.

"Please accept my thanks my Queen, you do not know just how much you helped us all" said the woman.

"My Queen, you do not how it felt to come back home only to be met with a disaster, with everything that you held near and dear to be destroyed, to be worried to death for your children, for your loved ones" said the woman as she started to cry again; clearly memories, terrible memories from what happened were replaying in her mind.

"The feeling of immense fear and dread when I remembered my children that were left at home while I went to the market, my poor children, thank the lord that they were playing out in the meadow when the dreadful attack happened, but still in the moment, the terrible fear that enveloped us all was terrifying" said the woman as she cried, unable to hold herself, remembering the memories caused her to feel the pain and fear all over again.

As Wura listened to her, she felt nothing but immense sadness and grief, she could only imagine how truly terrible the attack was in the moment.

Wura could not help herself, before she realized it she had reached out to hug the crying woman.

"I am so sorry, so very sorry for what you and everyone else had to go through, it was simply horrible" said Wura as she hugged the woman who cried and nodded.

"I thought that everything had ended, that our lives were ruined, how would we survive? How would we regain everything that we had lost?" asked the woman as she sniffed and Wura broke their hug as she took a step back.

"But before I could ponder anymore on what I should do, hope arose for us, and we were provided with food, with shelter and all because of you my Queen, because you care so much for us" said the woman as she smiled, wiping away her tears as Wura smiled, she felt like if the woman had continued on crying she would find herself shedding tears as well.

"I am eternal grateful to you and your loyal men who care for us so much, so thank you from the bottom of my heart my Queen, thank you" said the woman as she smiled.

"I appreciate your thanks, I truly do, but what is the point of being in a place of power if you can do nothing to help those who are truly in need?" asked Wura as the woman nodded.

"I agree with you my Queen, I agree" said the woman as she smiled.

"Forgive me once more my Queen, for crying... I just get so emotional remembering what happened" said the woman.

"It is alright, I understand, the same thing happens to me sometimes" said Wura as she chuckled and the woman chuckled as well, she felt so at ease with Wura, not self conscious at all, Wura made her feel like they were equals.

"My Queen, I just want to thank you once more for being the person you are, it feels so nice to finally have a woman rule and represent us, you are a motivation to all the women of Wyverdale" said the woman as she smiled and Wura laughed, that was truly a stretch she doubted that she was.

"I am serious my Queen, we know just how hard you have been working since his Majesty the King is away on a peace keeping mission, and you have ruled earnestly in his stead" said the woman.

"He truly chose a woman who is worthy to rule by his side" said the woman with a sincere smile.

"Thank you for your kind words, they truly mean a lot to me, I strive to do better and be better every day" said Wura as she smiled.

"Believe me my Queen, you inspire us all, it is rare for us to see a woman in a place of power, so thank you for making us women feel like we have someone worthy to look up to" said the woman as Wura smiled.

"I must be wasting your time my Queen, thank you for listening to me" said the woman with a smile.

"No, not at all, you are not wasting my time, thank you for allowing me to listen to you" said Wura as she smiled.

"Where are your children? Are they doing alright?" asked Wura in concern, if anything she was very concerned about the young children affected by this.

"Oh they are doing wonderfully my Queen, they have food to eat and safe place to sleep, they are currently playing down in the valley" said the woman as she smiled.

"I am glad to hear that, children are so innocent, nothing rarely gets them down, they continue playing regardless" said Wura as she chuckled and the woman laughed.

"That is certain for sure" she replied.

"How many children do you have?" asked the woman.

"Three, my eldest is eleven, my youngest is five and their sister is eight" said the woman.

"They sound lovely, and their father?" asked Wura as the woman's face became sad.

"He passed away a year ago... I am a widow" said the woman sadly as Wura had an apologetic look on her face.

"Oh I am so sorry, I should not have asked" said Wura as she apologized.

"It is alright my Queen, you are allowed to ask, you meant no harm" said the woman as she smiled, quickly cheering up before she began to cry again.

"I know, but I am still sorry, please accept my condolences" said Wura as the woman smiled.

"My Queen, I know that this might seem sudden but... would you like to join me and my children for dinner tonight?" asked the woman, she had been talking on and on and Wura had been listening to her attentively, she just wanted to show her appreciation in her own little way, and inviting Wura for dinner was her way of doing so.
