Chapter 8
I closed my eyes to prepare myself. Feeling the wind, and hearing the surroundings. I opened my eyes and saw the sunrise.
I turn my back to see the house but it wasn't there anymore.
I was alone.
I'm the only here, in this place that looks like a desert. As minutes gone by, the sun rises up.
What time is it?. The sun only rise now?. Is it the night too long?. Or not.
It's morning. I was hoping to see the house fully when the sun rises but it wasn't here now.
"What am I gonna do now?"
I'm lost. In the start, I don't know why I'm there but now I'm totally confused. I enter the house, I was abled to go out the house but I my questions are haven't answered yet.
"Where the hell am I?"
I felt a tap on my mouth. Image flash with a man smiling at me. "No, cursing right?"
I shake my head as I felt it wanting to see more. What was that?.
I'm in a clear space, everything that my eyes can see is just land and sky. No trees, no house, no anything.
I have no choice but to go on. I walked towards the way I've go out the house. I'm still wearing the dress and my hair is tied up in a ponytail.
As times goes by, the heat of the sun becomes unbearable, nothing can protect me from the sun and gives me shade. Is it an effect of global warming?. It also doesn't help that I am feeling thirsty.
While walking and enduring the heat. I was reminiscing what happen in the house.
I'm sure it really happens but how come that when I finally goes out the house disappear. Intriguing part is that the sun also rises up. The night is so long, I'm certain that all of my entrance in the house is valid.
In that time, it was too long to be just the night. It can be counted as a whole day or more than that.
Anyway, having the sun is clearly tells that I'm still in Earth and not some faraway place. Not that it exist.
That man. I was feeling good at knowing he was there.
"Did you also vanish together with the house?"I asked as I turn my gaze at the place around me.
I'm the only human here, even creatures that appeared in the house is not here.
I continue walking, and walking but the land never ended. It also doesn't reveal a house or any place I can stay.
I started counting as I continue walking.
I felt so sticky and hot.
I badly needed water.
Based on my studies, severe dehydration can cause death. And right now, I'm thirsty enough to bottle up a liter but I wasn't that in need in water.
Wait, studies?. So, I studied, but where?. I don't remember going to school or anything about school.
I already counted eighteen thousand four hundred eighty nine and that's equal to five hours.
I was walking for a whole five hours and the sun is already up in the sky and giving a scorching hot weather.
I'm tired but I can't stop in the middle of this desert land.
I can feel droplets of sweat going down in my face, neck and back.
I can't wipe it because it'll added to the stickiness that I'm feeling.
I sigh heavily and stop walking. I looked up and I was blinded by the sun.
For the past hours, I was walking and looks like I was nowhere to go to.
Niña, think.
Desert place. No house or anything near. Where can I stay and relived my tiredness?.
I'm thinking hard but ideas doesn't come for me. I was too exhausted and dizzy because of the sun.
I also felt a bit headache.
I closed my eyes to let my eyes adjust at the sudden light. And when I opened it, the barren land is still the same.
I can't help but to smile when I saw a thing in the middle of this desert.
I'm too tired to go any further. I'm thirsty and my body is nearing it's end.
Maybe it was a gift for me. To make it easier.
I saw a sand storm. A big sand storm in the middle of this land.
"Guess, I'm still lucky. I don't have to suffer more"I whisper as I felt dust coming to me, penetrating my body. I already closed my eyes to avoid any dust entering my eyes, I don't want feeling any pain when I leave.
While my eyes are closed, I hear voices.
"She'll make it, don't worry. She's so strong unlike me who can't live without her. I'm sure she can go back here and lecture me to what I've done. She'll be back, don't remove it please. I can pay for everything, just trust me. Trust her"
"It wasn't about the money. We don't want her to suffer more. The doctor said it's not certain but it's still your call"
"Thank you. She'll wake up, I know that. Right, Niña, you'll not leave me right. You'll be my side again and lecture me right"
Voices, it's clear but I don't understand what are they talking about. I hear they talk about me and waking up.
Am I sleeping?.
Or my eyes are closed again like what I've experience inside the house.
I don't know. I felt a tear fell on my eyes. Courage rise inside me.
Whoever that voice is, gives me hope and strength.
I opened my eyes and saw the sand storm, it was nearing to me.
I don't have time to protect my myself. And I can't see anything that I use to cover myself.
But, I look up in the clear bright sky. It was shining and whenever that voice is. I think it was guiding me and filling the strength that I've lost and fueling me to continue no matter how far. No matter how long it'll take, because in the end. I have someone waiting for me.
I let you decide for my life but I'm certain, I'm not giving up. I will not let the hope that you lit up inside me fades.
I run towards the highest mold of barren land and lay flat on it's surface.
The sand storm brings sand. And if I choose a hole or beside a large mold of sand, there's a chance that it'll covered me. That will double the amount of sand that was supposed to cover anyone in this sand storm.
As I lay on the sand. My eyes closed and wishing for my safety.
The wind also helps to freshen a bit of my feeling.
While closed eyes, I can see the light of the sun that was stayed in the center part of the sky.
How I wish the night fall now.
A bitter smile makes its way on my lips. I can't give up but I don't know what may happen next.
My conciousness is slowly losing. My body is numb already.
All I see is the brightness of the sun before I drifted to unconcious despite being my eyes closed.
