"I can't let you drive," I said walking past Maureen.

I walked to the car and unlocked it. I didn't need to talk at all before Maureen would get it.

"Drive fast please," Maureen said in tears.

I should have listened to Mia. This probably wouldn't have happened. Maybe if we called on time, they wouldn't have stayed out so late, Maureen thought.

But then it was too late, and there was no use crying over spilt milk. We had to face the matter at hand. All we had to do was hope that everything was fine. But who were we kidding? Nothing was fine. We were clearly told that Cole was shot.

Maureen said a short prayer while we drove to the hospital.

Until we got to the hospital, which was about an hour drive. Maureen kept screaming at me to drive fast. I didn't blame her at all because I would have done the same if it were Miles. I couldn't imagine Cole's state at the moment. He could be undergoing a surgery, and currently fighting for his life.
