You owe me

When alita heard Axel's words, her hand on his neck loosened and she withdrew the one on his chest. However, she couldn't fully process what he just said before her back hit the ground.

Axel was on top of her, his weight pinning her body down while his hands captured her wrist in a tight grip above her head. He looked into her eyes before his gaze traveled upwards to her hands.

Her left hand seemed pretty normal but her right palm had a red circle in the middle glowing brightly. He furrowed his brows and shifted his gaze back to her eyes.

Alita's eyes stretched wide when she registered their position. "W-what are you doing? Get off me." She yelled, her face burning red. She tried to push him off, but he didn't budge. He seemed to be searching for something in her eyes and now that she noticed, his eyes were back to the beautiful honey color she first saw at the bar.

"You are no normal human. What are you?" His voice successfully pulled her away from her thoughts.

"You are no normal vampire too. What are you?" She retorted.

A mesmerizing smile flashed across his lips and Alita found herself being carried away. Why does he have to look so good when he smiled? Almost like a harmless innocent creature. If she didn't know better, she would have hugged him and told him to never stop smiling. But she knew that behind his handsome face and innocent smile, lies a monster who could drain her of blood or even kill her without batting an eyelid.

And what was that he said about saving her life? She was sure she had never seen his face before. There was no way she could forget such a face.

"The fact that you know I am a vampire and even know that I am not a normal one only confirms that you are not a normal human. Mind telling me what you are?" Axel's eyebrows shot up as he asked and his gaze bore into her.

Instead of answering the question, Alita's mind went back to the fact that he was still holding her down with his body. She began to squirm under him to push him off her.

"Get off my body, you pervert." She yelled, frustrated and angry because she couldn't easily push him away.

"The next second, Axel withdrew his weight from her body and pulled her up so she was standing right in front of him. She immediately took two steps back and glared fiercely at him.

"Aren't you a little too shaken and flustered for someone who invited three men to spend the night?" Axel asked with one brow perfectly arched. His question flustered Alita the more. She had done that on the spur of the moment not realizing that someone might be listening.

Damn vampires and their super hearing. One couldn't even have a private discussion without fear of one uninvited ear listening to the conversation.

"I didn't invite anyone to..."

"Of course, you didn't invite them. You actually seduced them." Axel cut her off and her jaw fell. She didn't know why but the need to explain herself suddenly came over her. She opened her mouth to say something but Axel spoke first.

"You were so confident that you could handle three men yet here you are having a hard time handling just one. Were you just bluffing or..." He drawled as one side of his lips quirked up. "...am I just too much for you to handle?" His deep-set honey orbs sparkled in amusement as he spoke.

Alita's jaw worked. "It is considered rude to listen in on someone's private conversations." She yelled at him, but the smile on his face only widened. This only irked her more, increasing the urge to want to punch him in the face so as to wipe that smile off.

"Don't blame me, sweetheart. You caught my attention and whoever manages to do that, gets my attention in full." His deep smooth voice rolled out.

"I am not your sweetheart!" Alita countered, irritated.

Axel leaned back slightly, his eyebrows shot up in feigned surprise. "You're not? Do you always blush this hard in front of every man or is it just me?"

"I don't blush in front of..." She trailed off as she realized what she was about to say. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking he was right. But she soon realized that she had actually done exactly that when she saw him tilt his head slightly to the side with lips pressed tightly, suppressing a laugh.

"Argh!" She exclaimed in frustration, brows knitted together in annoyance. "What do you want?" She hissed. She suddenly felt like she has spoken more words in a few minutes with this man than she had done in the past two days and she was already feeling exhausted.

"Why did you kill them? Not that I mind, but I just want to know why you did it. And how too." Axel asked, the previous playfulness in his face gone to be replaced by a serious look.

"I don't owe you any explanation." Alita blurted. She didn't know what he wanted, but she was not interested in having this conversation with him.

"Oh, you owe me more than just an explanation, sweetheart," Axel spoke and took a step toward her. Alita took one step back, maintaining the distance between them as she became alert instantly. He suddenly looked like a predator stalking his prey.

"You owe me your life," Axel took another step forward and Alita stepped back also.

"You owe me more than an apology for trying to kill me earlier," Axel moved a step forward again and Alita's back hit the wall when she stepped back the third time. When Axel took another step toward her, he noted how hard her Jaws was clenched.

When his gaze traveled to her hand, he saw that her right hand was beginning to glow red. He refrained from taking another step forward and move his eyes back to her face again.

"And you owe me a new shirt since you decided to ruin this one." He pointed at the shirt he was wearing which had a hole in the chest area and on one sleeve. "So the earlier you start talking the earlier you can start paying off your debts." His voice came out soft however the look on his face didn't soften one bit, letting her know that he was serious.
